Claim abuse to collect unemployment checks, women
posted by Adam on Sunday May 11, @06:13PM
from the The-Media dept.
The Media CJ writes "A new “Study” indicates woman get biased treatment from unemployment services, yet the study states that women leave work for different reasons than men. This is a non- empirical study, it compares different sociological data with the assumption that women are short-changed somehow. The underlying premise of this study is to offer women more options for unemployment services than men. In some states women (only) have provisions that permit them to quit their jobs because of domestic violence to collect unemployment insurance. With todays broadly defined standards of "abuse" (because of relentless one-sided advocacy) and with the continual addition of incentives (divorce, custody, property, benefits...) for one gender only to claim that they were abused, inevitably more and more women will play the "abuse card" for payouts, and the feminist DV industry becomes a self-fulfilling anti-male reality. http://bostonworks.boston.com/globe/out_field/"

This brought me to a article about the wage-gap, I couldn't find anything relating to unemployment insurance.

I did find this gem:
http://bostonworks.boston.com/globe/articles/05110 3_overwork.html

Looks like we can't win. We work full time they don't like it, we work part time they don't like it, we work night shifts they don't like it, we don't work at all they don't like it. I wonder why these studies never ask men how happy they are?

I tried to cut and paste your bostonworks address three times and get a reject each time. Something's wrong.

I assume this is the article Andrew74 is referring to. The address is the same as what he posted, so I don't know why cutting and pasting didn't work for me.

Are others here finding the same trouble when copying and pasting URL's? This isn't the first time I've had this problem.

When you cut and paste a URL, check to see if your browser reflects the correct address. Frequently, errors of ommission or commission occur.

sometimes a space gets inserted into the url when cutting/pasting, thereby causing the address to read incorrectly. not sure why this happens...

I'm pretty sure that it's because of the character required for a carriage return: Windows uses two characters for a carriage return while linux uses one. Either way, the carriage return is inserted into the url as a space instead of being removed as one would expect.

In the URL posted by Andrew, there is a space between the "05110" and the "3." This is converted in my version of Internet Explorer to a "%20." In general, if you see one or more "%20" in the URL address after trying to access a page by cutting and pasting, delete them and hit Enter.

Bingo!

I took the space out from between the "05110" and the "3" and it worked! That was the problem!

Thanks

I'll remember that in the future. I just cut and pasted it from the address bar. I use netscape navigator, next time I will just manually type it out.

Some friendly advice:

Copying and pasting is a lot easier. If you use HTML coding to enter a link in your posting, you can test the link by clicking on it after clicking the "preview" button and seeing the result. If the link doesn't work right, you know to find the problem before hitting the submit button.

If you don't know the coding, here it is:

[A href="YYYY"]ZZZZ[A]

Change the [ and ] to the corresponding arrows. The YYYY is the complete URL. The ZZZZ is the word or phrase you want highlighted and underlined for clicking.
