I'd be interested to know who thought that one up; it's an interesting acronym, but just couldn't be "invented" without slamming men in some way. I guess if a man is independent, single, unmarried, has no kids or desire for any, he must be "self-centered" by definition. Never mind that he may do volunteer work, donate time or money to the needy, be a Big Brother, or anything else similar. He MUST be self-centered (and gals like the Sex in the City set are not?). Of course, we know men who remain single in today's social environment as highly intelligent and informed. I hear a lot of happily married men(yes, there are a few out there, mostly older) say they wouldn't even consider dating if their spouse died, because of the social environment.
Personally, I prefer to be known as a FREEBIRD.

Amen, brother. I look at my older brother, who is married, and all the BS he's been put through because he didn't think to buy a house BEFORE getting hitched. It's ridiculous and I want no part of it. Here's a little hint... for everyone... DON'T EVER LIVE IN A HOUSE OWNED BY YOUR WIFE'S FAMILY. Or by anyone in your own family, for that matter. This may sound like a strange viewpoint but you're probably better off trusting a bank, which is dispassionate, than a human being who may do selfish things.
My brother's mother-in-law decided to sell the house that my brother and his wife lived in, which was in a very desirable location. They couldn't afford anything in the area so they began looking for houses in various different parts of the country...
Then, WHAT A BIG HUGE SURPRISE, they just HAPPEN to find one for sale a stone's throw from the mother-in-law's house. And three thousand miles away from most of our side of the family. And this particular ball started rolling RIGHT after they had their first kid. I don't even have a relationship with my brother any more, he's more of an acquaintance than anything else.
Never do big business with family members...

I noticed the word phrase "tipping point" in there as well. It seems to me that at some point the men's movement may reach a tipping point where it starts to have a more dramatic effect on society. The link is:

Interestingly, I did a search on "misandry" and couldn't find anything. There were a few phrases like "irritable male syndrome" and "male answer syndrome" as well. Then again, "nanny cam" was in there as well.

Terrific, yet another bigoted slur I have to deal with.
Let's see, I've been called "Red-skin", (even though my skin ISN'T red, It's kinda light beige.) "Injun", "Wahoo", "Wagon-burner", "Scalper", "Geronimo", "Phocahontas(?)", "Half-breed", "Prarie nigger", "Timber nigger", "Pale nigger" ..., You get the idea.
Now, I'm "SINK SCUM".
It used to be I had to deal with hate and 'hate-speech' because of my ethnic background. But more and more often, I have to contend with it because of my GENDER, as well.
Well, I guess that's "tolerance" for ya.
All I can say is, that whatever name these hate-mongers call us we should wear it PROUDLY.
Because as long as they are calling us hateful names we will know that we are doinig the opposite of what they want us to, and that's what we want to be doing!
Call me a "timber-nigger" I'll wear it proudly.
Call me "Sink scum" and I'll wear that proudly.
Because I'll always know I am called those things because I never sold my soul.
