MANN Chat: Men's Right to Freedom of Association
posted by Steve on Wednesday April 09, @12:42PM
from the Masculinity dept.
Masculinity I will host this week's MANN chat, Wednesday night (4/9), starting at 9:30 PM Eastern Time, at the usual location.  The topic for this chat will be "Men's Right to Freedom of Association."  The recent flap about the Augusta National Golf Club has generated a lot of controversy.  However, one point that is often overlooked is the value of men-only spaces.  Sometimes, men want to be in the company of men.  Should men have the right to have men-only clubs and organizations?  What value do such groups offer to individual men and to society, as a whole?  We'll discuss this question from an unabashedly male-friendly perspective at tonight's chat.  Join us for tonight's chat and share your views on this issue.

What if you have "NO TRESSPASSING" sighns on your property?
Or, what if your a HERMIT, or something and don't want to associate with ANYBODY at all?
Isn't that discrimination against EVERYONE?

I know it's not EXACTLY the same thing but I just find it interesting (Not to mention aggravating and annoying) that women have COUNTLESS "all female" organizations, clubs, rallies, You name it and not one cry of "Sex discrimination" do we hear. But let men have ANY kind of "all men's" clubs, organizations, etc, And the cries of "Sex discrimination" are screeched from the roof-tops. (often the roof-tops of FEMALE ONLY universities...,)
Hypocricy, Hypocricy, HYPOCRICY!!! That is what feminism has become, and is completely ALL about...!

I forgot to add...;
Women are often the reason "I have enough aggravation..."
Alot of men agree with me (secretly or openly).
Ladies, We love you. But GOD knows there has to be SOMEWHERE we guys can go to get away from you all for a little while!

Just as you women need a "fortress of solitude" from us guys sometimes.
It isn't a matter of "discrimination", for cryin' out loud, It is simply a much needed way to preserve our SANITY!

Notice the question in this post: "Should men have the right...?" Does this strike anybody as strange?

It shouldn't strike you so much as strange, rather it should strike you as down-right scary. To ask "should" men have the right implies that they don't already have it, and that it is bestowed on them by some human authority. In other words, it makes the State out to be the source of rights, to be granted or revoked at its almighty whim.

This is a fundamental flaw in many people's thinking. Friends, rights don't originate with the State. The purpose of government is to protect the INALIENABLE rights that we already have. The Founding Fathers stated that we have the "Right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness."

Notice the intellectually precise wording: the right to the PURSUIT of happiness. It doesn't say we have the right to be happy per se, but rather have the right to pursue it. In other words, happiness isn't something we can demand that somebody else grant us.

If grouping with other like-minded men in a privately funded organization is what makes some men happy, then they already have the right to do so. Government doesn't grant them that right. That's the dirty little secret that Martha Burk doesn't want to admit to. In her twisted feminist thinking, rights are bestowed on us by the State.

Ms. Burk, neither you nor the State "gives" me the right to associate with whomever I please. It's not yours to give. That right is already mine. The only thing you can do is use the power of the government to deny me my rights.

Keep this in mind, as well: The only way the State can deny anybody their rights is through the use of physical force. Government cannot revoke your rights, it can only prevent you from exercising them, and that ultimately can only be done at the point of a gun.

Remember that the next time you hear Burk or one of her cronies preach about "peace" and "non-violence".

Maybe we minorities should sue the Ku Klux Klan, because they don't let us join.
(not that any of us would WANT to.)
Maybe whites should sue the "BLACK PANTHERS" for not letting whites join.
Maybe we men, in general, should start sueing places like "LADIE'S ONLY" health spa. This place not only doesn't allow men, but the very name screams anti-male. We should begin attacking ANY and ALL places that are "women only" on the grounds of 'Gender discrimination'.
If we did, how much does any one wanna bet the feminists and like-minded women and femboys will use their old tried and true defence of saying...: "But it's DIFFERENT!"
No, It is NOT different "ladies". Not different at all...,

Try doing google searches on phrases like "women only" and "women are invited". Substitute men and compare the results. You'll find a marked disparity.

Almost every formal or informal social organization has a "women's" arm, either official or de facto, almost none has a "men's" arm. Newspapers and magazines have women's sections and women's corresponents, tour companies organize women's tours, education institutions at all levels have girls-only programs etc etc, yet you will almost never the corresponding special acoomodations made for men. Sometimes these special women's programs, committees, events etc will be cloaked under the name "gender".

The reason for this disparity is simple. By denying men any space of their own they can more easily be controlled.

Insightful. Divide and shame -- standard feminist tactic. And make sure men never get a chance to discuss with each other the injustices that they face.

...When ever the News begins it's "Health segment", I just change the channel, Because They rarely, if ever have anything on men's health, Only women's. It is always a "new study" showing how the "lack of sleep affects WOMEN", how "depression affects WOMEN", how "stress affects WOMEN", how "WOMEN suffer from " this that and the other thing. Not to mention the ENDLESS reports on 'breast cancer'. (rarely if ever prostate cancer or other diseases specific to men.) So, like I said there's nothing for me as a man on those "Health segments" so I change the channel. Why don't the news media just call their "health segment" what it is?; "WOMEN'S health segment."
Yeah, we live in SUCH an ANDROCENTRIC society. And women are just SO EXCLUDED from everything..., (sarcasam)
