I'd just like to know how such a clear gender bias passes constitutional muster, since it freaking OBVIOUSLY discriminates against men by denying them equal protection.

The judge put me in pre-trial incarceration because my ex (who has drinking problems) fabricated a story of abuse (with no evidence or personal harm).
The DA and victim advocates tried to put me away for 2 years. I paid a fortune fighting a 'he said she said' thing with only allegation as evidence.
there is something very wronf with the system. And the police were the ones that trumped up her claims as a first line offense to bury me.

The article was a breath of fresh air. It concluded....
Effective domestic violence training needs to acknowledge all victims and perpetrators regardless of the typology of abuse and the age and/or gender of both victims and perpetrators. If it is the intent of those who were involved with this manual to “improve strategies in the new millennium” they might better be served if they understand and acknowledge that domestic violence is an issue of concern to all of us, regardless of age or gender. Domestic violence victims and perpetrators are not limited to one specific age or gender.
Throughout it gave a way of splitting off the 'Batterer' part of DV from the other types of occurance.
It allowed a way in for victims other than the 'Battered Woman'. It acknowledged the horrendous nature of Battering, yet also gave reasons why this should not be the only focus of attention if DV is to be tackled properly.
I think that by agreeing that Battering is Horendous yet only part of DV we have a way of helping all victims.
This article was a great example of how the case for all victims can be put. It gives some hope and points out the blatant biases of organisations purporting to be against DV.
