It occurs to me that women having the vote is not really the problem. I see the REAL problem as having two components:
1) Men who fail to go to the polls,
2) Politicians whose ethics are weak, embracing the notion of "stay in office at any cost" instead of doing the right thing.

Repealing the 19th Amendment might be a possible solution, but it's a shot-gun approach and not likely to EVER be realized.

As far as I can tell, the best political group today is the Independent Women's Forum. The most dangerous and destructive group is the hateful, leftist, loonie women, who are concentrated in the Democratic Party. In general, whether they claim to be conservative or liberal, the men are spineless twits, who spend far too much time wondering what will get them votes and far too little time exercising principle.

To a large extent, men are so beaten down they don't dare to make a stand. That situation is, of course, changing in large part because of the men's movement. For now, though, at least the women are standing up for what they believe in, whether it's good or evil.

Consider this:

____Nationwide, there are 9 million more women than men registered to vote

____More women go to the polls than men.

____The percentage of women voters voting for Republican candidates this past season (11/2002) increased more than the percentage of male voters voting Republican.

Take Florida for example. Jeb Bush got 49% of the female vote and John Sununu got 46% of the female vote. Given the voter registration and voting turnout disparity between men and women (above), it is probable that each candidate got more female votes than males votes overall. Given that more women voted Republican than in the past, female votes were decisive in Jeb Bush's reelection. The same happened across the country in other races.

Detailed analysis of voting patterns since the last election (11/2002) show that Republicans did better than usual among female voters and about the same among male voters (compared to past elections). The percentage of males voting Republican remained basically constant. But the percentage of females voting Republican increased significantly. This means women voters were a decisive factor in the so-called Republican "sweep" in Congress and in governorships. There were also some Republican "sweeps" in state legislatures. Women are decisive in any case because more women vote. Women were decisive for Republicans in the last election for two reasons: 1. the percent increase voting Republican was greater among women and 2. more women vote.

Clearly the Republicans should capitalize on their apparent bump in popularity among women if they want the same or better results in 2004. That's not going to happen with articles like this which fail to acknowledge women are shifting politically and which keep on beating the same tired old "women are socialists" drum. One thing women don't like is to have their contributions belittled or ignored. Writers such as this author aren't doing Republicans any favors. One thing Republicans should do, and it's a humongous PR mistake if they don't, is publically acknowledge and thank women for their increased support last time out.

The point isn't to do Republican or Democrats favors. The point is to insist that everyone respect the human dignity of men, as they should of women.

The article seemed way too feminist-like to me. Men should not aspire to become narrow-minded, mean-spirited windbags like feminists. Repealing the 19'th amendment is absurd and idiotic, but of course not as bad as advocating mass murder or mass jailing of men...

I agree. Calling for the repeal of the 19th is idiotic in and of itself.

However, the author's reasoning for repealing was that women largely vote Democratic. It is inferred that he believes this is a bad thing and he'd like fewere Democrats eligible to vote so his side would win elections.

The point I was trying to make is that a large number of women are NOT democratic. Another large number of them are swing voters (as are men) and may or may not vote Democratic depending on the circumstances. This last election, enough women swung toward Republicans (and also Conservative issues on referendums). Therefore, his reasoning for a repeal, in addition to his call for the repeal in itself, is unsound. He could obtain his objective of having Republican win more elections simply by appealing to women swing voters.

By identifying as a Republican Conservative and insulting women in a variety of ways, even Republican women, he is shooting himself and other Republicans in the foot.

He could make the same argument that we should rescind the vote for blacks since the majority vote Democratic. And so on for every group which largely votes Democratic. If we exclude people from voting based on how they vote, we may as well just have a monarchy or dictatorship and be done with democracy!
