Dish Network Ad Literally "Bashes" Man

from the media dept.
The Media equalitarian62 writes "A commercial for Dish Network shows a man and his wife at a swimming pool. The man reads the newspaper while a woman in a bikini bends over in front of him. The man doesn't see this, and says "Wow," presumably due to a Dish Network ad in the paper. The wife, thinking he's referring to the woman in the bikini, strikes him in the jaw. I'm sure that the ad was meant to be humorous. It wasn't for me." Thanks also to Thundercloud for submitting news of this ad. The web site for Dish Network is here and they have a feedback form on this page. This is certainly deserving of some feedback.

Yeah, as Scott said, I saw this stupid commercial. and I'm like; "What the h#!! is the advertiseing worlds beef with Men...?!?"
I mean, this one's not as blatant as the 'PROGRESSIVE insurance' ad But it's yet another log of anti-male hatred thrown upon an allready out of controll forest fire of misandry.

And yet again we must put forth the obvious in saying; that this would NEVER fly if the gender roles were reversed. Frankly, I'm getting really tired of haveing to say that!

As far as contacting 'Dish network' to protest. Well, even though we had SOME success in protesting 'PROGRESSIVE insurance', They are STILL running THEIR anti-male ad. (Less frequently but still running it.)
I read some where that getting these ads off the air will not be done because of people protesting. But because the ad(s) don't SELL.
So As long as gender bigotry SELLS to women (and obviously it does) the ads will go on and on and on.
I'm pretty sure some one else brought this up before, But I am wondering what (if any) effect there may be in contacting the FCC. To my understanding there is (supposed) to be a standard against depictions of hate and degradation against people simply because of Race, Sexual-orientation, Ethnicity or GENDER. Or is this yet ANOTHER "Men need not apply" category?

In the "Blackshirts on the move" discussion thread, I brought up the issue of a certain ad in Austrailia, depicted on Billboards. It is an ad for "Voodoo hosiery" in which a "dominant" woman is shown walking two naked men, on all fours, on a leash, like DOGS.
This also was met with veament protestation all over Austrailia.
However, the Austrailian version of the "FCC" replied to the complaints by saying, in effect that the ad "Did not violate any standard(s) of decency." (!!!!)
How much 'you wanna bet that if (again) the gender rolls were revered, It would have been said "it violates EVERY standard of decency"??

My point, here is, will WE be met with the same kind of indifference By the FCC?
If so, Where do we go from here...?
(And yes it IS an ominous question.)

Not that I would ever recommend illegal activity, but have you read Edward Abbey's "The Monkey Wrench Gang?"
