Father Arrested For Failing To Protect Son From Step-mother

Domestic Violence As Richard Henn sat by his 6-year-old son's hospital bedside recently, police entered and put him under arrest for "failing to protect" his son from the boy's step-mother, a former sheriff's deputy who body-slammed the child so hard he went into convulsions. This story in the Denver Post reveals that Henn was actually in another room, giving his 4-month-old daughter a bath when he heard the commotion. In court documents, Richard Henn told investigators he heard Kevin's body hitting the floor and said his wife threw the boy down. Gail Henn apologized to Kevin as he lay unconscious and convulsing on the floor, according to police statements. The couple had argued in the past about physical punishment, the father told police. Henn's bond was set at $20,000. Same as his wife, who is currently out of jail on that amount.

If the genders were reversed, do you think the mother would have been arrested?

What horse dung!

And of course if he did physically assault this monster who was attacking his son then the police would come and arrest HIM! anyway.

I think Colorado is notorious for this type of misandrous abuse.

Ye ole arrest the man even if he is the victim routine.

This guy might have interesting grounds for a lawsuit. If he can demonstrate that he FEARED calling the police because of a systematic tendency of police to dismiss DV claims by men and avoid investigating them, he might well be successful. He needs to demonstrate that he felt that his son was in more danger because of the tendency of the police to arrest the man every DV case, and that his removal from the house, under any circumstances was detrimental. He can easily prove that he had nowhere to go. Are there any DV shelters for men in CO? Not likely.

That link didn't seem to work for me. I did a google search and found a couple sites covering this story, but none of them mentioned the father's arrest, and they all claimed the stepmother's bail was set at only $10,000.
