Birds Are Better Men Than Humans

Science Bledso writes "This is another condescending article that would never have been printed if the genders were reversed. Notice the wonderful credentials of the first "expert". the article lashes out at human men quite a bit because, apparently, the Australian bowerbird must keep a clean nest, have sharp feathers, and be sensitive to attract a mate. The "expert on human and animal behavior" claims human males are incapable of sensitivity, among other things.

When they say "sensitive", what they really mean is "willing to kiss ass... profusely".

The author's efft to connect bowerbird behazvior with human males seemed contrived to me -- an attempt to make a dull nature article exciting by cashing in on popular misandry.

The problem men face that male bowerbirds do not is not that men are insensitive, but that the signals they get from women are so corrupted by manipulation that they are unreliable.

The sexiest male bowerbirds win big, mating with as many as 25 females over a two-month mating period. And a satisfied female, who raises her young alone, comes back year after year as long as her favorite mate is available.

Does the male bowerbird have to pay child support?

LOL!!!! I love it and also the comments that follow!

I think female manipulation is the price humans have to pay for being intelligent. And it's not really right to assign human personality traits to birds. People tend to anthropomorphize animals a lot, no matter what their ideas about humans. And this is being used for an insidious purpose.

WHY CAN'T EVEN MEN SEE WHAT'S GOING ON? The researchers were male, that's what I find most surprising. And the first one could have been anyone off of the street who had taken high school biology.

"Female men's activist" is not an oxymoron.
