Announcements Nightmist has been helping out by taking over the maintenance of the Media Watch page, which will now be updated more regularly. If you find a commercial or ad which you feel is particularly pro- or anti-male, please drop us a line at admin@mensactivism.org and we will look into adding it. And a special thanks to Nightmist for taking over this project!

I'm just curious, how many others here have seen the Circuit City ad campaign? Do you think it's as terrible as I do? I believe they have roughly four fairly new ads. In my opinion, ALL OF THEM show men in a terrible light. I wrote them a while ago with no response. Has anyone else written them? Any responses?

I don't know about the iBook ads- the one where the woman is giving birth and the father is so proud of his newborn son that he shows a digital slideshow to him of his delivery, family, etc. The thing is, one of the slides shows the pregnant woman driving to the hospital b/c he was "too nervous" to drive. Am I nitpicking here?

I think it's a wonderful ad. Makes me cry every time I see it.
"Female men's activist" is not an oxymoron.

Lady Rivka,
I don't think I've seen the iBook ad. Is it a Circuit City ad? Have you seen the other Circuit City ads?

I don't think that one qualifies as misandry. The ad isn't speculating that all men are going to be too nervous to drive. And the ad actually makes fun of the pregnant woman, too, when you see some of the pictures dad shot of her facial expressions during delivery. :)

If anything, that particular ad is pro-male because it depicts the father's excitement at the new addition to the family and his immediate love for the child.
