A triumph, indeed. There are no Ames stores in my area, so I didn't participate in this one, but I'm happy that my nephew (who DOES have an Ames store near him) will not be taunted by the site of such hatred.

Now what about those T-shirts one sees everywhere on girls with messages like "Boys Suck", "Boys Lie", etc. Funnily I never seem to be able to find the ones with the "Girl" versions of these clever slogans when I go to the shop.

Nice work, Cheddah. This is a victory, small though it may be. It will spare some boys (and men) some pain, and it has gotten a message through.

Well kudos to AMES DEPARTMENT STORES and a special congratulations to chedda for seeing this project through! I just hope ALL of the AMES stores removed the stickers not just this one store location.
I just got a rather ho hum cryptic email response from the NINEWEST customer service people about their misandrous ad of the woman with her booted foot on a the back of a prostrate man. It doesn't say anything about removing the ad:
"Recently you requested personal assistance from our customer relations department. We'd like to make sure that your request has been resolved. Below is a summary of your request and our response.
If we do not hear from you within one week we will assume that you have no other questions.
Please visit http://ninewest.custhelp.com for any other additional assistance. Thank you for allowing us to be of service to you.

B-e-u-t-i-f-u-l. Any chance a small local media outlet might find it newsworthy? It certainly reflects an important social issue. And imagine if it had been aimed at women.

Thanks to everyone that helped with this issue. It really means a lot to know that one's efforts reflect the concerns of an entire group. This is what made the difference. I was just doing my part, as we all should.
By nature, I'm not an activist, but I can't sit around idle and watch the denegration of my gender anymore. I stand up against people who spread misandry, at work, in public, and I do not support companies that market products with anti-male propaganda. I work hard, play hard, take care of my family, and so does just about every man I know, enough is enough...
Let's make our activism effective 2002!!!
Thanks
Ched (CJ)

Good work Cheedah! A powerful motivator for the rest of us is to see our brothers' successes.

Excellent work. Nice to see a payoff.
Now, has anyone bothered to write to Ames and THANK them? I think that the request/resolution/reward triad is a good method. Request a change, watch for a resolution, and then reward the change. Maybe we should all be sure to let Ames know that we appreciate the action taken by them to resolve this issue. Credendo Vides
