MANN Book Discussion: Who Stole Feminism?

from the announcements dept.
Announcements As promised, I have set up an e-mail list to be used for the book reading group. If you haven't heard, Mensactivism.org has set up a "book club" of sorts - every couple of months, people who want to participate will decide on a book to be read, and then form a reading schedule for the book. The mailing list will be a place to discuss the contents of the book and other related issues (please note that is not a general purpose list, so please keep discussions on-topic!). The first book we are reading is Christina Hoff-Sommers' Who Stole Feminism?, and we are reading 3-4 chapters each week. To join, click here and fill out the web form. All are welcome.

BTW, the reading schedule has already started, and I think we had agreed to read the first 3-4 chapters by Jan. 1st.

But even if you haven't bought the book yet, it's not too late - go get it now and start reading! This is an informal group, so you'll have some time to catch up if needed.

As a matter of interest, how available is this or other anti-feminist books? I haven't seen this type of book locally here in England. I'm not sure I would if I went to London. The online stores I tried including Amazon and others talked of 2-4 week wait. Is it freely available in US stores?

A further thought. Germaine Greers stuff is freely avaiable here, at the shops and at the library, not to mention the Vagina Monologues to name but one.

Also a minor announcement, not related to the book reading group.

I removed the poll both from the main index of MANN. Few people used it, and the right column of the page was pretty cluttered anyway, so I decided to get rid of it.

If that really bothers you, let me know and I'll consider putting it back.
