The So-called Wage Gap This article from Excite News claims that women take longer than men to find new work after losing a job, and are more likely to choose part-time work or not re-enter the labor force at all. Surprisingly for mainstream media (Reuters), the story points out that the reason for this "disparity" is not discrimination against women, but a result of women making their own choices, especially if they happen to have a man around who is already bringing home the bacon. The article also hints at the fact that women generally have more choice about whether to work or stay home than do men.
