Court Threatens Right To Bear Children

Reproductive Rights Kathleen Parker wrote a great article for TownHall.com in which she discusses the recent WI court decision barring a "deadbeat dad" from having any more children. While the idea makes sense on the surface, there is a lot more at stake when it comes to our civil rights, as Parker clearly points out. The ruling also reinforces a gender double standard, "This court ruling is just one more message that men are no-count predators while women are hapless victims. Women choose; men lose." And this is how it's been so far in the history of men's reproductive rights.

I'm glad she pointed out that she wasn't defending this particular father (who owed $25,000 in child support and irresponsibly fathered nine kids by four women), but she IS defending his (and all men's) right to procreate without interference from the state. I think her Lorena Bobbitt comment was a bit much, though.

I wonder what would happen if this case continued on to the U.S. Supreme Court, assuming they'd hear it?

Yeah, you're damn right that Bobbit comment was too much.

BTW Nightmist, don't condemn him. In case you didn't notice, there's plenty of hate mongers who'll do that for us.

Also, notice how nothing is said of his situation, if this was a woman you can bet your life they'd be talking about how bad off she is, isn't there more to motherhood than money etc.

To conclude: Don't jump on your high horse too quickly or it's liable to bolt and send you flying.

No offense Nightmist, it's not aimed at you, just have to set some things straight.
