Humor: Isolated tribe Spotted in Brazil; NOW dispatches emergency team to liberate tribal women

This is a joke, guys, not a real story. Here goes:

'WASHINGTON, DC: N.O.W. spokesperson Menar Allbad answered questions from reporters today after the organization announced it would be dispatching its Emergency Women's Liberation Response Team to Brazil to enlighten, re-educate, and if need be, rescue by force, at least one woman being held captive in a primitive tribal setting in Brazil.

"We were deeply disturbed about the recent BBC story regarding a plane's overflight of a remote Brazilian village inhabited by so-called indigenous people," offered Ms. Allbad. "And while we don't wish to sound Eurocentric in our thinking, and respecting their cultural standards, we must also acknowledge such a place is certain to be filled with male chauvinist-oppressors who, by providing for and standing in defense of women in the tribe, contribute to the on-going, endless oppression of women and children.

"You have only to look at the picture of the two men painted in red with bows and arrows, by their very natures violent and dangerous to all, standing between the woman covered in some kind of black paint (an obvious attempt to keep her unseen) but of course likely to claim to be in a position to protect her. Note the absence of children as well. Obviously they are being kept hidden away from the world, so that the men can train the boys to be oppressors and can abuse the women and girls in unspeakable ways."

A pause here, as a shudder moved through the crowd.

"The apparent protective stance of those two men really hides a sadistic and innate urge to control and exploit the women and girls of the tribe," she continued. "This has been proven time and again. The same thing only in a supposedly more-refined way is seen here in our so-called western civilizations. You can be sure those arrows would be pointing at that poor woman under any other circumstances.

"We can waste no time. Our Emergency Women's Liberation Response Team is on its way now. Once at the tribal compound, they will through whatever means necessary liberate the women and children from the clutches of their evil men-folk and bring them to safety here in our offices in Washington, where we will begin the process of re-educating them and training them in the enlightened version of femininity that N.O.W. is so proud to support. And the men in that tribe? Well, we have special plans for their re-education. But more on that later."

With that, a helicopter landed near Ms. Allbad and five women in military fatigues, carrying what appeared to be Thompson submachine guns, beckoned Ms. Allbad aboard. AP later learned that she was part of the Emergency Women's Liberation Response Team being sent to Brazil. This might explain her cry of "Liberate the Brazilian so-called indigenous women from tyrrany! On to the jungle! Arrgghhhh!" as the helicopter made its way toward Dulles Airport.'
