‘Sea change’ seen in spouses’ financial roles

Via Marc A.: This story helps show what we've said all along - that it is not "patriarchy" or male dominance, but choices, that lead to men "earning more" in relationships. Men generally have no problem with their wives outearning them, and they're realizing the breadwinner role is more of a burden than a privilege. If anything, women still seek men who outearn them so they can choose between career and childraising. That option is a power women have, not a disadvantage. This story also gave the "housework" myth, ignoring new studies showing men put in more than their share of hours when combining work inside and outside the home, which is generally true worldwide. 'It seems we’ve officially left “Leave It to Beaver” behind.

In the new dynamics of home economics, it’s not just that men want women to contribute financially to a marriage: The vast majority of men say they wouldn't even mind if their wives brought home the bigger paycheck.

“The male ego as head of household seems to have diminished to the point of disappearance,” said Rosanna Hertz, chair of women’s studies at Wellesley College and one of the researchers involved in the Elle/msnbc.com study. “However, men are still dragging their feet in terms of domestic responsibilities.”'

“Nowadays I think more men and women than ever before want to be friends rather than (follow) gender roles,” she said.

Exactly. And this means the end of marriage as a social institution. Because marriage is all about gender roles.

Women seek out a man who will provide. Ask most women to be honest - they will balk at the notion of desiring a "mister mom".

As far as women in the workplace, that's just another venue for them to find a high-status man. Many, if not most women in college, are not planning on working too many years themselves. Instead they intend to place themselves in high-status jobs and companies, surrounded by high-status men - thus improving their odds of finding a well-to-do mate.

Remember Roy's survey?

In all reality shit hasn't changed. America used to be a gynocracy and still is; women used to exploit men and they still do.

Women need to stop lying to make themselves look better. Just admit it: the average woman has the mindset of a whore.

To women the word "equality" is a punchline used to swindle dumb men that "loves them some women."

You go girl!
