Fathers Rights Activists Grow Stronger And Hold Rally To Make Family Law Accountable

A reckoning is in order in family courts all across America. F4JLA and NCFMLA are intent on seeing accountability brought back into a legal system influenced heavily by gender feminism and judicial chivalry. Presently, America’s family law system appears to exist to serve primarily the gender feminist agenda, and of course, itself.

The day started out with a bang, when a woman stopped her car at the corner of the intersection, directly behind the blue truck, then briskly approached us exclaiming, "I have seven kids and an ex-husband who hasn't paid child support in five years. What can you do about that?"

I love those masks! You guys are great.

Well, at least half of those fathers are fathers of daughters, who are more feminists than Kim Gandy. (That's why they never forget to distinguish between "men's rights" and "dads' rights"). But, anyway, I liked the following comment on that page:

You know you're growing stronger when you can block bills in the legislature, not when you can run around looking like complete kooks.

I agree with nbd. When I saw grow stronger I was somewhat hopeful. A handful of people wearing costumes is not growing stronger. When MRA's get into the mainstream media and influence laws then we will talk.

According to some, those folks should just fold up their tents and go home and do nothing, instead of spending hours making new contacts and friends every month. It's odd how hard work to effect positive change is met with such negativity on sites like this.

That appears to be quite a stretch. Please provide citation to support your statistics.

"(That's why they never forget to distinguish between "men's rights" and "dads' rights")."

I think that pretty accurately shows who the victims are in family law courts. Men as well as dads are victims in family law courts, and the groups putting this event on are both fathers' and men's rights so what's the problem?

Here is the whole comment you quote and the reply immediately under it that you didn't quote.

"If you want to even be noticed in this area of California, dramatic flair is a must. Every good member of the entertainment industry, or every good public speaker, knows the critical need of "playing to the audience" (tailoring your presentation to the tastes of the audience). You see, we just happened to be 7 miles from a little place in California called "Hollywood." On the other hand, we were 375 miles from the State Capitol in Sacramento. In our neck of the woods we were "under-dressed" (Hollywood terminology).

As far as kooks go, judging by the legislation that appears every year, this place (below) appears to be the biggest kook house in California. The only difference is those kooks are all wearing suits, or similar attire.

Judging by laws on the books, I'm not really impressed with the feeble efforts being made to "block" all the misandrist, gender feminist laws that get passed every year.

Education is critical in getting our information out to the public in an effective manner so please get used to the dramatic flair. You will see it again, and again, and again, God willing. (personal contingency):-)"

Why those fathers don't get anywhere with their performances about which we've been already hearing for years? The answer is simple. Because nobody takes a man in jackass mask seriously. Did feminists in 1960-s do such performances when they were fighting for their agenda? Did they stay in public places, wearing, say, sheep or cow masks? No. They did mass public protests.

nbspcl..youre kidding youreself...Masks of the right type are very effective reach out tools!!!

Take for instance Fathers4justice...their use in britain of super heroes costumes...History will tell that, that was in fact very effective under the circumstances of that era!!

We've only been holding our picnics for 7 months, but have had very significant, positive contact with the public so what in the heck are you talking about?

The people stopping by and driving by apparently liked the protest. I guess the public has a different perspective when they take in the whole event and talk with the people there.

I wasn't mentioning the participants of that particular show personally. I said that we've been hearing about "fathers for justice" and their performances with batmans and superheroes for years. And things for fathers in the course of all these years keep getting worse. In other words, their shows brought absolutely no results (the only result is that public has got used to the fact that fathers' issues apparently is not something serious if fathers notify public about them in such a ridiculous way).

In short, you may be getting some fun out of these "picnics" as you called them, but the outcome of these shows for all other fathers is rather negative than positive. (The good thing is that not all what is bad for fathers is bad for men in general.)

So what's your plan?

I don't agree that things "keep getting worse." I'm open to data on that, but otherwise I haven't seen evidence of that. I've seen it stay the same or, in some ways, improve only slightly.

More importantly, I think that's a fallacious argument, i.e., that "you've been doing this for years and nothing has changed." Many movements that succeeded did many things for years and years before any serious change occured. It takes a long uphill battle, involving many little events like this, to build up enough resistance and awareness to make a difference. These people are networking, improvement their advocacy skills, talking with new people, gaining new members, etc. every time they do these picnics.

I also think the costumes do bring attention. People see them and wonder, or even ask, what it's about. It sends a message that perk's people's interest. It's a common tactic that I've seen many other activist groups do.

Things simply won't happen overnight. They take years and years of networking, etc., in many different forms, places, and degrees of intensity, before serious change happens. The same is true for legislative change. Things start with "feeble" efforts like this or others. They're stepping stones.

Warren Farrell in The Myth of Male Power said this movement especially will be the most incremental of movements, for various reasons, and I totally agree. Those who want to see walls of Jericho fall, or the Red Sea part, are most likely in for a lifetime of disappointment. And I find alot of those people do little or nothing at all themselves.

NCFM-LA, of course, is doing many other things to raise awareness. Our media coverage speaks for itself. http://www.ncfmla.org/media_coverage.html
We were also invited speakers at several gender studies classes this year and handed out free copies of The Myth of Male Power. We have set up tables at numberous events, appeared on Dr. Phil, continued working on impact litigation, supported other groups financially, etc., and much more. These picnics are only one project. I agree that the title of this posting should not have been one about "growing stronger," given the small number of people in the photos. But I'm extremely thankful for all the work these people put into this, and the new members, visibility, networking, bonding, awareness etc. that it has brought and I hope they continue despite the criticism of some.

In today's 15-second soundbite MSM arena, any publicity is good publicity ... especially if your "movement" is a feeble blip on the radar screen.

If men's rights as a cause is going to evolve, it will take both "bottom-up" and "top-down" pressure.

At the top, it will be crucial to find ways to enlist politicians to reform all the misandrist laws; and that typically means making it clear to the pols that they have something to lose by ignoring men's issues.

At the bottom, the interpersonal gender level, the most powerful strategy is the growing young men's marriage strike --

when young women cannot find suitable husbands, willing sperm donors, readily available ATM machines in sneakers to subsidize the twenty year career "stop-out" that they wish to be able to choose for the mommy-at-home entitlement routine ...

when that's no longer an option --

even the illogical gender will start to question who stole their fairy tale ending.
