Lesbian couple sue - because they get two babies instead of one

They had to get a man to pay for the kid somehow! How can they expect to keep all their wonderful luxuries and shopping habits with two kids and a measly $120,000/year?

They would have had to sign consent forms to have artificial insemination procedures done and those LEGAL documents very clearly spell out that multiples are a distinct possibility as the procedures are not 100% successful and are EXTREMELY costly so the doctor performing the procedure ALWAYS fertilizes and implants MULTIPLE eggs as it is not guaranteed that even one fertilized egg will attach to the uterine wall, divide and develop into a fetus and get carried to term.

They would have been explained all of this in greater detail on their very first consultation and made to sign legal documents acknowledging they understand the procedure and the risks. Doctors who perform such treatments always do so because they used to get sued by people who'd spend tens of thousands of dollars on them and then the embryos would not and they still got no kid. They have no case.

Slightly off topic, but can anyone tell me what happens when a lesbian partnership, with children, splits up?

Does one of them get to play the "female" role, i.e. keeping the kids, the house and a fat slice of the ex's future earnings; while the other has the delightful experience of playing the "male" role, and gets shafted on all fronts and saddled with child support?

Or, both being female, do they both get to be the victim of the break-up? Who gets branded as the abuser - on the premise that there is always an abuser when a man and women split up (and we all know who that is)? Or are they both abuser and abused? In which case who pays whom for what? How does it work?

I would love to know, if only to see how the legal system manages to deal with the problem of two holders of the vagina pass at war with each other, and not a man in sight on whom to dump the blame and the bills. How ever would they manage?

My guess it would be treated like all cases are supposed to be treated: no discrimination on the basis of sex.

blaze4metal: I think you are right. That might be the moment when "equal treatment" actually gets interpreted correctly.

But might that not be the cue for men to point out that if they can discover real equality for two women, why can't they do it for a man and a woman? Revolutionary stuff, eh?

If the lesbians split up, the doctor who is being sued would be considered the father. Courts have ruled that "financial paternity" trumps biological paternity, so a DNA test wouldn't get him off the hook. Not only that, but the doctor will have to pay alimony to the acrimonious and ungrateful lesbians.

These bitches get away with anything these days...anything. Unless a man has millions of dollars to prove his innocence he is automatically guilty when up against a woman in the so-called "justice" system.
