Father-free holidays

Story here. Excerpt:

'Many men now only join their families for a short part of the summer holiday.
...
These days, father is more likely to keep in touch by text or email, and mother is probably juggling summer childcare with a demanding freelance career, but otherwise, it seems, the long summer break - much of it spent without Dad - is back in fashion.
...
Absence of a parent can also have a detrimental effect on children, especially on young boys, if it's the father who's away. An interim report from the Children's Society, published last Monday, said that the UK has the longest working hours in Europe, and that 21st-century stresses are "pulling families apart".'

"mother is probably juggling summer childcare with a demanding freelance career"

More hype. Sure..everyone has a freelance career..so none of them have any clients, since everyone's a freelancer. But the article does make some valid points..even if the author is a jackass.

(Quote from a mother/pampered concubine in the article) -- "Ever since we were first married, Andrew has always worked very long hours. He leaves early and is home late, so the children are used to never really seeing him on weekdays during term time and don't really miss him in the holidays."

This article is one of the most unapologetic depictions of men as wage-slaves and domestic appliances that I have ever read.

And the main tone of the piece is that the absent workaholic man is not an essential member of "his" family, nor does his family much miss him, and his wife & "soulmate" is having a great time without him, spending his money.

The ultimate "men are merely wallets" testimonial.

Repulsively, utterly true.

A very good article that clearly shows all unmarried men that family is complete nonsense nowadays and that they must avoid marriage at any cost. Married men spend their money, health, time, energy on their families and get in return absolutely nothing. If you don't want to become a slave - don't marry and remain free. If you are a slave and want to become free - dump your wife now.

"mother is probably juggling summer childcare with a demanding freelance career"

Amazes me that wommin never have ordinary jobs like working in an office or MacDonalds, they are always depicted as being in a high pressure situation and always capable of looking after a spawn and juggling everything easily...

Load of rubbish, the biggest user of drugs are women, as Jagger calls them, "mother's little helpers". So this whole image of women being capable is just another feminist beat up and absolute rubbish.

"Every summer, our village is transformed," says one inhabitant of a small coastal village in Norfolk. Suddenly London arrives, and all the cottages, which have been dead for most of the year, teem with children, dogs and well-heeled mothers, joined occasionally by fathers at the weekend."

Sure the mothers are well-heeled, because they are spending the money being earned by their pet slaves back in London. Also note how Natalie in the article spends more than 12 weeks each year in her holiday cottage. How many working men and fathers get 12 weeks holiday a year? So much for "freelance" mom. More like "work-free" mom.

Also notice how the female psychologist tries to gloss over the fact that it is men who are doing the slaving while the women enjoy their holiday. "When the other half arrives, not only might he or she be tired..." No Linda, "she" will not be tired, because "she" is not the one who has been stuck at the job for all hours while the rest of the family enjoy the good life. Look at the title of the article for a clue as to which parent is the sucker who arrives late and gets to be the tired one.

But never mind. It is surely only a question of time before pet slave works himself to death, and then it will not just be the holidays that are father-free, but the whole family's life. Then mom really reaps the bonanza - she gets to own the family home, the holiday cottage and slave's life insurance, all for herself, without having the trouble of coping with grumpy, tired slave when he eventually puts in an appearance. Yes, it's a great life for today's modern woman if she can only get herself a slave...
