Cops called to hunt for man taking daughter for a walk

Story here.

Toronto father takes daughter for a walk.
Cops called, 4-hour manhunt ensues... excerpt:

"It's a classic case of how looks can truly be deceiving. After a frantic four hour-plus search through a heavily wooded area, police at last have an answer in a case that paralyzed part of the downtown core late Thursday. A young girl they believed had been abducted was found safe, sound and never in any real danger.
...
It was the finale many expected would come to pass because police never received any calls about a missing child, something that most certainly would have happened had a little girl been gone for that long.

In the end, it was a complete and expensive overreaction, but one that cops couldn't afford not to take."

Any man with a child, particularly a little girl, is immediately suspect as a child molester. Or hadn't you heard?

A young girl they believed had been abducted was found safe, sound and never in any real danger.

Why the 'real' in front of the word danger? It implies that the suspicions were justified.

"We were able to locate the child and the father here at XXX XXXXXXX,"

Why publish his address? Can fathers NEVER be allowed anonymity? What, is it just in case he really is raping his own biological daughter - the absolute statistically most rare sex crime of them all? It's virtually NEVER statistically the biological father having sex with his own daughter. Biological MOTHERS are far more likely then fathers to sexually abuse their own children.

In the end, it was a complete and expensive overreaction, but one that cops couldn't afford not to take.

Despite the fact that the police themselves knew they would find her safe and sound because no child had been reported missing and stranger abductions NEVER go unreported. Sure, come sex crimes are underreported but stranger abduction isn't in that category. But lets waste millions of dollars in the digital age when police have instant access to information pertaining to and bulletins of any report anywhere in North America of a missing child. Missing children reports go out to police continent wide these days.

Man hating witch hunts MUST STOP NOW!! Fathers and men in general have as much right as mothers and women to interact and spend time with children!

I'm so glad that my daughters are grown young adults now, so that I do not have to fear the P.C. femi-cops arresting me for taking them on daily mountain back-pack treks in the hills of Northern Idaho when they were babies.

Once, when my youngest was only 14 months old, I got stuck on a narrow switchback trail at 5,400 ft. elevation with her in a baby carrier on my back.

A beautiful view of Coeur d'Alene lake, with no obvious way off the mountainside cliff we were hanging on to....

I guess that would be a crime today?

(My infant daughter slept through the whole nervous episode...)

Today, we'd have copters overhead and DV parasites dialing 911!

That is not nice...at all! Now if the person were a real stranger, then it would be legitimate...but the girl's father?! Sickening!

These men [fathers or not] need to be very careful with the kids...because nowadays, no one is safe when it comes to abduction and false assumptions...FOR A HOUSEBOY!!!

The article focus on how the incident makes the cop looks bad; but the real issues the writer should be focusing are, 1) How men are judged as "dangerous" because they have not shaven, wear dingy clothes, etc; 2) How the ignorant masses of people are truly excited by the idea of getting someone in trouble for something fantastical like another female child abduction, so they appear to jump to conclusions (like that she was kidnapped), whereas in reality most of them are pretty sure nothing really sinister is happening, they are just hoping something did, so another evil man can be nailed; 3) and in the vein of introspection by the reporter, how the incredibly fucked up media owns at least 70% of the responsibility for public hysteria surrounding these type "incidents" (for example, incessant hysterical reporting about Elizabeth Smart, Jessica Lunsford, Carly what's-her-face and I think one other actual kidnapping over the last six or seven years).
