In today's NY Daily News there is a piece about a Boxer that appeared on the new reality boxing show "The Contender". He didn't meet the cut and committed suicide on Valentine's day in front of his girlfriend's house.

The article is almost a full page and after it points out that EVERYONE around him said the show was not the issue they keep trying to make the new show the issue. Even with the following quote they don't stop.

Click "Read more..." for more. "He kind of made a joke about it," said Gallagher. "He said, 'If we got 10 rounds I would have beaten that guy easy.'
"That's the kind of guy he was. He didn't take it hard."

Philadelphia Police Sgt. Ron McClane added, "There's nothing to tie the suicide to 'The Contender.'"

Two Quotes in the article say the real reason, but is totally glossed over, over and over again throughout the article. they refuse to accept what his father AND girlfriend say. Here are the two key quotes:

"The 22-year-old fighter shot himself in the head after quarrelling with girlfriend Angela Chapple over custody of their 2-year-old daughter, Anyae, relatives said."

But his father said his son told him something that foreshadowed Monday's tragedy. "'I just can't live like this,'" Daniel Daugherty said Turpin told him. "I guess he was talking about living away from his kid."

They won't let the show go and report that he was about to be forced to give up his dream of being a boxer. The courts would never let him continue to lose and not work once child support would start. He also knew the girlfriend (as did the father), and already knew that he wouldn't be with his kid."
