Action Needed: Vote Pending for Visitation Plan

Harold Leist writes:

Hi everyone,

Well tonight I found out tonight that HB 2294 (in Virginia) is going to come up for a vote in the next few days. We need to urge the committee members to vote for this bill.

Ed. note: You do not need to be a Virginia resident to communicate your support of this bill to the VA Assembly. It is important they know that others out of state are watching their actions, and that this is a national-level issue of concern to people all over the country.

Click "Read more..." for what to do.
This bill is based on the TX visitation plan. The TX Bar Association, and the judges in TX support it. It provides guidelines that are good for the children. Studies show that support of both parents is better than the support of one.

Ladies, we really need you to write. It seems that, for some reason, some of these people think this a just a male issue. As we all know that is wrong. While the vast majority of NCP’s are male, there are lots of female NCPs.

This list, is designed so you can cut and paste it into the to field of you email program and send the message to everyone at once.

So how do you write to a Delegate? There are a couple of rules that I’ll cover here.

1. Keep it down to two or three sentences.

2. Make sure it says you support or don’t support the bill.

3. Make sure you include the bill number so they know what bill you are talking about. They have lots to deal with.

4. Don’t tell your story. They hear them all the time. They know what is going on and just want to know that what they are doing will or won’t fix the problem.

5. DON’T SOUND MAD! If you do they will just dismiss you as an upset
complainer.

6. Whatever you say, just make sure you do it. Too many people just never get around to it.
