#MeToo and Boy Scouts: Dismantling masculinity will lead men to drop out

But progressive attacks on the male domain won’t elevate women so much as destroy some of the best that American life has to offer.

Progressives cry “toxic masculinity rears its head yet again!” every time guys balk at these options. But construing masculinity as dysfunctional won’t cause men to be more like women. It will cause them to do the opposite. They will drop out of society and the workplace.

Young men will stop pursuing the conventional route of hard work in favor of digital entertainment and instant gratification. They will play video games in mom and dad’s basement until age 30 or older. They will be unprepared for the remaining men’s jobs out there, like foundry work. They will inadvertently relegate themselves to the pink-collar arena, leading to ever-increasing rounds of frustration and withdrawal.'
