"The patriarchal race to colonize Mars is just another example of male entitlement"

Article here. Excerpt:

'These men, particularly Musk, are not only heavily invested in who can get their rocket into space first, but in colonizing Mars. The desire to colonize — to have unquestioned, unchallenged and automatic access to something, to any type of body, and to use it at will — is a patriarchal one. Indeed, there is no ethical consideration among these billionaires about whether this should be done; rather, the conversation is when it will be done. Because, in the eyes of these intrepid explorers, this is the only way to save humanity.

It is the same instinctual and cultural force that teaches men that everything — and everyone — in their line of vision is theirs for the taking. You know, just like walking up to a woman and grabbing her by the pussy.

It’s there, so just grab it because you can.'

... comic relief. Alas I think NBC ran it as a serious article. God it was funny.

But if I were to actually take it on as a serious matter of point, I'd start with idea that expansion and colonization is a male endeavor. True men are the bleeding edge of territorial expansion, typically. Been that way since the dawn of humanity. But women soon follow. For where men go, women generally if not inevitably follow. Groups of men in remote places are men typically with access to copious resources. Men with stuff attract women. Plenty of cities exist today that started as military forts. Men at arms are good men to have around in remote places. And they have stuff. Put 2 and 2 together. Roman girls used to compete hard for landing young legionaries as husbands. They were paid in gold and received bonuses pretty often. Landing even a private legionary was a good catch for the typical Roman girl.

Men ranching and farming in new territories attract women, historically speaking. The American West could not have thrived unless women had relocated there in droves so they could have hubands with stuff, and thence well-provided children. Women have children (well, used to have -- not so much these days) and reproducing is necessary for thriving, by definition. A territory that is occupied exclusively by one sex cannot by definition be thriving. It can be populated and can stay populated by steady immigration into it, but w/out reproduction, it can't be said to be thriving.

So it would seem colonization and settling fairly require the presence of both men and women. And indeed unless women are reproducing, why would men bother to strike out and conquer/discover "new" lands? We wouldn't. There'd be no need to. We'd all collectively die out w/out females because we don't have uterii.

But again, worse things have happened. As I've said before, humanity could use some thinning out.

Now as to settling other planets like Mars: I'd like to point out that the only planets ATM we can even get to to colonize are lifeless. At least, they appear so. Not so much as a bacterium... unless we happened to bring it with us. So conquest, imperialism, etc., don't quite fit into this model.

Given that it could one day come to pass that for whatever reason, the Earth is rendered devoid of human if not all life, and with little notice, I am inclined to think that hedging humanity's survival bet by dispersing people a bit across worlds is not such a bad idea.

Quite literally the stupidest thing I've ever read, though I can see how it happened. If the games gives you points for thinking up new ways of complaining about white male patriarchal western colonialist yada yada yada, why not add Mars?

Sometimes I think I favor Indonesian style death squads for the cultural marxists, but then I think nah, we just have to keep them talking. They'll sink themselves.

For comic relief, there's a place on Twitter called Patriarchy Central, run by someone with a rather eccentric sense of humor. Here is an image of the Space Patriarch on his way to Mars:

And this:

And this:

"The Patriarchy is on its way to exploit and oppress Mars, for the benefit of men worldwide!

The Illuminati is kindly funding this venture on our behalf.

The Patriarchy is planning a potluck meeting with The Illuminati to discuss details of our space program. Meet at the Temple on Tuesday next week at noon. They make a great chicken casserole!"

Crazy, huh? Well, it makes as much sense as the article.
