Meet the mothers who think they deserve a 'wife bonus'

Story here. Excerpt:

'Women are notoriously bad at asking for bonuses. Which is why I did my homework and created - as BusinessInsider.com suggested - a "master plan".

I waited "the appropriate amount of time" (in my case, five years), made sure the big boss was in a good mood and took him out to lunch ("somewhere intimate, where there will be no interruptions"). I eschewed any usage of the word "need" (stinking, as it does, of desperation) in my pitch - which was "backed up with reports, charts and documentation of my positive performance" - and I tried to "remain respectful" as he stared slack-jawed back at me, before throwing his head back and roaring with laughter.

Asking my own husband for a bonus simply for being his wife was never going to be anything less than preposterous. Yet according to the author of Primates of Park Avenue, this is what a glittering tribe of crispy-haired Upper East Side Manhattan wives do every year - depending, of course, on how well they have managed the domestic budget, socialised, upheld a variety-filled performance in the bedroom and succeeded in getting the kids into a "Big Ten" university.'

... what do they offer their husbands? Please don't demean them by replying "sex", as that'd imply they're little more than high-class call girls with a voluntarily restrictive clientele.

That wouldn't be right now, would it?

The writer indicates she is a "social researcher" who bases her "research" on "reality" TV such as "Real Housewives." I'll point out that reality TV is not real and it's only value is entertainment value. I'm starting to conclude that her article about a wife asking her husband for "wife bonus" is fictional as well and it's sole purpose is click bait and entertainment.

The article was confusing to me. From what I can tell the researcher, Wednesday Marticn, is real. She has a PhD. However most her published work is a blur of fiction and reality. The part about wives asking for a "wife bonus" is a passage in her new book "Primates of Park Avenue" which is said to be similar to "Real Houswives" TV show. No one is identified, so we just have to take her word that it happened and the details were shared with her, so she could write about it.

I grew up in a wealthy neighborhood, with husbands making million plus salaries and stay ay home wives. I have never seen such behavior. Most wives were down to earth and just raising normal kids.
