The Footwear Cadets Were Allegedly Forced to Wear During Political Event March Has Sparked an Uproar

Story here.  Excerpt:

'Making the general public aware about tough issues that need addressing is obviously a good thing. But there’s a right way and a wrong way to go about doing it.
...
In the “Walk a Mile in Her Shoes” event, cadets were required to wear high heels and march to “raise awareness of sexual assault against women.”
...
“Its a Cadet Command wide thing, pretty much every battalion in Cadet Command has had to, or will have to do it. GEN Combs has picked it up as a CC initiative.”

“This is sadly legit. Did it at my school this semester, along with something called “Take Back the Night,” both of which made me uncomfortable just being a man and being there, let alone in uniform. This is supposed to be Cadet Command’s directive, that ROTC is to be involved in sexual harassment prevention on campus as part of SHARP stuff, but really none of these events are relevant or even well thought out. The “speeches” people give are either geared towards women or poorly constructed, and we are all sitting in uniform (men and women, both) listening and wondering how it is at all relevant.

I’m all for equality, but it is really poorly thought out to have us involved in this.”'

This situation is awful. I am glad it got attention and I hope to see change. it is an embarrassment to our military. "Walking a Mile" events are supposed to be charitable political acts. Personally I think they are stupid, but if people want to do them, fine; but no one should be forced.

Walking a mile in high heals, especially cheap heels and on men who are not used to them, and on concrete can cause foot damage. I also cringe to see men in uniform humiliated like that.

...they were considering the ramifications to recruitment and image among potential supporters generally in the population when deciding they would publicly and rather weirdly ignore their own regulations *and* politicize what is supposed (_supposed_) to be an apolitical institution that exists for the purpose of enforcing by warfare US foreign policy, whether it be defensive or aggressive. Tell me, just how the heck does making men in uniform walk around in women's red heels do this? I doubt there's a practical application. I will SWAG that no battles aside from ones on bar-room floors between women who have for whatever reason come to hate each other violently are fought by anyone, much less men, while wearing red high heels. And if there was one, you can be sure I'd pay *not* to see it.

"Hey you young college cadet wannabes, sign up here and get your free red high heels that you will be required to parade around in to show your support for the feminist agenda!"

I doubt this is gonna help with college cadet recruitment efforts.
