Alleged domestic abusers to be GPS-tagged without trial

Article here. Excerpt:

'Judges in Michigan now can order domestic violence suspects - even before they go to trial - to wear global positioning system (GPS) devices, which monitor their whereabouts to ensure that they stay away from their alleged victims. If a suspect comes near a victim, the system sends out an alert. Not only are authorities notified, but the victim gets a cell-phone call letting them know that the suspect is nearby.'

Wonder if female suspects will get the same treatment as male ones?

A mere three days before that article went to print, this one was published. Excerpt:

'The Attorney General's Office, by constitutional mandate, is supposed to protect all residents, not just half of them. Its representation against this ruling would constitute a conflict of interest and felony official misconduct. The attorney general is involved in domestic violence funding and disseminates where that funding goes. The attorney general's office willfully fails to fund battered men's programs and shelters, even after the U.S. Justice Department has put out statistics that battered men comprise 40 percent or more of battered partners. This willful refusal to fund battered men is discriminatory policy.'

However the ruling is going to be challenged, as one would expect.
