Do We Care When It’s Men?

Recently I have been listening to podcasts in my car. One of these podcasts is “History on Trial.” On this show the host, Mira Hayward, presents the stories of “famous legal battles from American history.” The stories often focus on some injustice that was either caused, remedied, or both by the American legal system.

Episode 16 was titled “The American Plan: Rock v. Carney (1920).” (1) “The American Plan” as we learn in the podcast was the common name for the collection of laws and policies that the Federal and state governments adopted around the time of World War I. The purpose of the American Plan was to fight sexually transmitted infections (STI’s). These laws were deemed necessary because a significant number of US soldiers serving in the war were testing positive for STI’s such as syphilis and gonorrhea.

'Mental health professionals have raised concerns over the psychological and emotional impact that paternity fraud could have on children’s well-being.

The physicians warned that paternity fraud could lead to suicidal ideation and emotional distress among affected young people.

Speaking exclusively with PUNCH Healthwise, the experts noted that the emotional fallout from learning about a non-biological parentage could be profound on children, especially when not properly communicated.

'The Air Force finally handed over a trove of documents pertaining to its sweeping “goal” of reducing the number of white male applicants in a popular officer program after spending months stonewalling requests for their release.

Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman C.Q. Brown — at the time the highest-ranking member of the Air Force — issued a memorandum in 2022 that the branch was updating its racial and gender demographic goals for applicants seeking to become officers, in a bid to prioritize “diversity and inclusion.” Internal documents obtained by the Daily Caller News Foundation include a slideshow from 2022 where the Air Force outlines racial and gender quotas and details how it hopes to “achieve” a reduced number of white males in its Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) officer’s applicant program.'

'The suspect, 32-year-old Bionca Ellis, has also been ordered to an inpatient treatment facility, News 5 Cleveland reported, citing court records.

Ellis was undergoing a 20-day evaluation when her doctor concluded “that the defendant is incompetent to stand trial, but that there is a substantial probability of restoration to competency within the statutory time frame if provided with a course of treatment,” according to Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas records.

Ellis is indicted on seven charges, including aggravated murder and felonious assault. While incompetent status “does not affect her charges; it pertains to her mental state now, not during the crime,” the report states.

'A sexism row has erupted at one of Australia's most prestigious gold clubs after a male player was suspended for dressing up as a woman in protest against a cheaper deal for females.

A male member of Victoria's 13th Beach Golf Links, which hosts the Victorian Open, presented at the golf course's reception desk in a dress and a wig, telling staff he now identified as a woman.

The player and an individual who filmed the video of him approaching the desk, both aged in their 70s, plus another member, have all been suspended by the club.

According to the Herald Sun, a petition among club members is now circulating whereby they are calling for the removal of Grant Phelps, the club's chairman, 'primarily over this issue'.

Explaining the reason for the suspension, general manager Rob Hurley said the trio allegedly breached club policies 'in that they treated staff with disrespect, filmed them without their consent, and then published that video on a messaging service.

'The boards that oversee England’s national parks are bloated, dominated by men and are severely lacking in diversity, a Guardian analysis has found. The analysis also found that farmers outnumber conservation experts by two to one, nature is rarely on the agenda at board meetings and only one national park can account for the ownership of all the land it covers.

Campaigners said a major overhaul of how national parks were governed was “fundamental” to the recovery of nature in the parks and to serving the public, for whom they were set up.'

'Bulgaria’s education system has been shaped by gender quotas since the 1960s, aiming for a 50/50 gender balance in classrooms. These quotas were initially created to encourage girls to enter traditionally male-dominated fields, such as science, technology, engineering, and maths (STEM). However, our findings suggest that these policies might be doing more harm than good, especially for female students during the high school admissions process.

Despite their original intent, these quotas can sometimes force admissions officers to favour boys—even if they have lower academic scores—to meet the desired gender balance. This has led to situations where girls, who make up 56 per cent of the student population, struggle to get into their preferred schools.

'The University of Connecticut faces a federal civil rights complaint for an “innovators” program that is only open to females.

The public university in Storrs operates a “First-Year Women Werth Innovators cohort” which includes money, networking, and mentoring opportunities for aspiring entrepreneurs. While men can apply for similar programs as sophomores and juniors, there is no equivalent for freshmen males.

Civil rights activist Mark Perry shared with The College Fix a copy of the recent complaint he filed with the Department of Education. He says the program “illegally excludes and discriminates against non-female, first-year students based on their sex and gender identity.”

He cites several examples of how the program’s language is only directed at women.'
