MANN Chat: A Database to Track Feminist Hate Speech

This week's MANN chat will be held on
Wednesday night (6/18), starting at 9:30 PM Eastern Time, at the href="http://www.mensactivism.org/chat.shtml">usual location.
The topic will be "A Database to Track Feminist Hate Speech."
There is a lot of male-bashing speech and anti-male hate speech
online.  Feminist extremists in Canada are asking the Canadian
government to href="http://www.swc-cfc.gc.ca/pubs/0662882857/index_e.html">monitor
and censor men's
activists.   Let's beat them to the punch!  Let's build
a database of feminists' hate speech and male-bashing statements.
Join us at this important chat to develop a strategy for monitoring
feminist hate speech and publicizing it.  Invite a friend or two
to join you!   (Click on "Read More"  below to see a
list of some data elements that we can capture for the database.)

sexist tv ads

Anonymous User writes "In the UK the problem of man-bashing tv ads is getting steadily worse. I was particularly angered by the adverts for Wall's "Carte D'ior" ice cream. To summarise one of these ads shows a man and a woman sharing ice cream in the back of a limosine. The woman is dissatisfied with the ice cream the man gives to her (it's not Carte D'ior) so she quickly kicks him out of the (speeding) limo and sends him spinning onto the ground and landing in a load of rubbish bins. As a result I would like to recommend Walls Ice Cream for the "companies to boycott" list on the "standyourground" site"

US News (Are Men Obsolete?)

thrudd writes "If you have the print copy of US News & World report for 6/23/03, check out Jodie T. Allen's opinion piece. The article isn't online now, but it should be soon. Her archive is at http://www.usnews.com/usnews/opinion/jallen.htm. My jaw dropped when I saw this piece of misandry."

Cathy Young: "In abuse, men are victims, too"

CJ writes "

This article was prominantly featured in the Boston Globe and addresses many issues that are relevant here. Cathy Young has been doing an excellent job getting the "word" out on true gender equity. The domestic violence establishment still denies or minimizes violence against men, and many DV advocates are hostile at any attempt to even raise the issue. This article is very important information as our judicial system (through 30 years of feminist jurisprudence) has become highly biased against men concerning DV matters."

Men are DV victims too !

Thunderchild writes "Well, I never thought I'd see this in the UK !

The content may leave a lot to be desired, but the fact that it exists is a huge step forwards. The agitating obviously works !

READ HERE.

Respect,

ThunderChild,

Help !!

Thunderchild writes "Can anyone help me with an academic reference ?

I am writing a letter to a local newspaper which has printed a very biased view of domestic violence and I am looking for the study/studies where the attitudes of young men and women were quoted.
I remember that one of the tags was that young men thought that when a woman 'led a man on' he should not be charged with rape !!

Please help

ThunderChild"

Simone de Beauvior's feminism

zenpriest writes "Most of you by now are probably familiar with Simone de Beauvior's famous pronouncement that no woman should be allowed the choice to stay home and take care of her children, because too many women would take it. Well, it seems that her disciples are in positions of enough power in the UK to decree that this will be so.

"The call for mothers to work is made in a 76-page document from the Women and Equality Unit, which is responsible to Trade Secretary Patricia Hewitt."

In the interests of leveling the playing field, let's all get behind Hillary for president and let her also implement the priniciple that the "village" can raise children better than their mothers can."

Moms with no pregnancy, lesbian fathers

zenpriest writes "Is that cracking sound I hear the camel's back giving way? In this historic week: in addition to Canada declaring same sex marriage to be the unlegislated law of the land, Joan Lunden has proven that the inconvenience
of going through pregnancy is not required to be a mother (go to any search engine and type in "Joan Lunden surrogate"), and NZ PM Helen Clark has decreed that lesbians can be "fathers."
By my count, that makes 4 of the 5 major English-speaking countries which have declared surrender to the radical paradigm in the past week. I can be a mother if I have the $$$ to hire a surrogate, Ellen DeGenerate or Rosie can be the "father", in Canada I can marry any of you guys, and in the UK women are going to be pushed to work so the village can raise their kids. Is the war over yet?"

Bashing Men to Celebrate Father's Day

Mark writes "Burlington Coat Factory has taken an interesting approach to attract female shoppers for Father's Day...bashing dad, of course!
In a new TV ad dad - of course chubby, sloppy and balding - messes up the laundry and messes up dinner while mom and the kids look on with condescention.
I am not sure if there is a link to this ad on their company website but I am sure there is a "contact here" link."
Anybody else seen this?

Washington Post covers boy soldiers

Matt writes "Great! About bloody time! Boy Soldiers Toting AK-47s Put at Front of Congo's War: Wonder when the UN will take this seriously? Relatedly, just today for Father's Day, also from the Post: Making Do Without Dad: and At Least 14 Children Will never Meet Dad:
*sigh*... Happy Father's (Fatherless) Day, guys."

A Father Gets A Break....Finally

Luek writes " At last a father gets a break from the law on the accidental hyperthermia death of his child he left in a van. There have been a couple of reports recently about women who did the same thing and and didn't get prosecuted either.

So maybe the law is finally starting to view men and women equally? Let's hope so.

Anyway....Happy Father's Day!"

Same sex marriage, thinking outside the box

zenpriest writes "Someone, I think it was Thunderchild, recently commented about "thinking outside the box." Here is what I think is an excellent example. Canadian courts have essentially
decreed same-sex 'marriage' to be legal. (BTW, I could not find this guy's archives, so this link has a one week shelf life.) A sexual relationship is already not part of the marriage contract (with marital rape laws and all that) (see also: "Why your wife won't have sex with you")
So here's the deal - any of you guys want to marry me? I can be the wife and refuse to have a sexual relationship with you, we can pool our resources, live frugally, and retire in 5 years. Any takers?"

Men and women bargain differently

CJ writes "A new study found that men routinely ask for more money than do women in salary negotiations. The study found that the two sexes take radically different tacks as they bargain. The feminist response: Instead of comparing men's and women's negotiating skills, it might be better to examine ''gendered'' perceptions in the workplace. For example, if women are less greedy about salary than men, why are women not perceived as being better for the organization? Hmmmm...?"
