NCFM-DC at Olde Town Gaithersburg Day in Maryland

Matt writes "NCFM-DC was present at the Olde Town Gaitherburg Day Fair in Gaithersburg, MD, which was attended by thousands of DC-area residents.

We had a table set up and passed out hundreds of fliers and leaflets. We were met with a variety of reactions, some supportive, others dismissive- but no pies in the face or shrill screaming from enraged
feminists. :)

It was a great success. Getting the word out is the name of the game; public outreach is well worth the effort!!

14 Years And Counting For Marital Rape

Luek writes "So you think marital rape is a joke and you would never be accused of or convicted of it? Read on and go to this site for some sobering reflection:

http://www.ncfm.org/will.htm

WILLIAM HETHERINGTON is in a Michigan prison on a Criminal Sexual Conduct (CSC) conviction. His wife claimed that he had raped her. The case was a matter of "he said/she said". Wil has been in prison, now, for more than 14 years. During all of that time he has consistently maintained his innocence."

Bodybuilder has offered to kill Kate Faber, (Kobe Bryant’s rape accuser)

The Star Online wrote today that...

"A Swiss bodybuilder will be charged with multiple felonies for allegedly proposing a US$3mil murder-for-hire scheme to kill the Colorado woman who accused Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant of rape, the Los Angeles County district attorney's office said.

Charges to be filed tomorrow include four counts of solicitation to commit murder, two counts of solicitation to dissuade a witness, one count of conspiracy to commit murder, and one count of obtaining money, labour or property by false pretences, according to a statement released on Friday by Sandi Gibbons, a spokeswoman for the office."

Perhaps the movement needs to work on getting those passionate about the issues into pro-active solutions as a team instead of desperate, detrimental acts motivated by individual powerlessness?

Alleged abusers could avoid jail until conviction

Indystar.com writes...

"Prosecutor Carl Brizzi says the public would be better served if officials stopped the emergency releases and opted to pay fines of $40 a day for each inmate over the limit.

He opposes any plan to release accused domestic batterers.

"By keeping these people in jail, I'm doing my part to protect the women and children of this community," Brizzi said.

Feminists catch heat for their politics

" In the latest blow, the New York Times a longtime champion of women's rights, dismissed as "silly" NOW's decision to endorse the lone woman in the Democratic race.

Woman Gets Arrested For Stalking Football Coach

Luek writes "http://www.philly.com/mld/inquirer/sports/6759366. htm

Here is a new blurp (it is 5th down on the list) about some banana headed woman who repeatedly called the football coach of Ohio State harrassing him.

What is good to note here is that she was actually arrested and charged with stalking and held in jail in lieu of a $105,000 bond. It looks like the DA did not laugh it off as the antics of just another harmless eccentric woman.

It is encourageing, however if this case ever goes to trial and she is convicted a feminized middle-aged male bastard in a black sheet will only give her mild probation and or a couple of hours community service. You can pretty well count on it."

Note: You do have to scroll a little to see the report. Also, the news on top about the Title IX suit is worth a look.

Is this a parody? I have trouble telling.

What is going over here? either this is bad satire, or Bettina Arndt showing signs of rabid man hating? to quote: "There is a very good reason that domestic violence is now taken very seriously, given the long history of men using physical force to intimidate women. The new rules are there for a reason. He has to get it, fair or not These are tough lessons. No male entitlement, no cock crows or strutting." What do you folks make of this? I think she's projecting her problems onto us....

Male-Friendly DV Conference in Portsmouth, NH this October

The third annual national conference on domestic violence will be held on October 18 in Portsmouth, NH. The event is co-sponsored by the Domestic Abuse Helpline for Men and the Violence Intervention Program (NH's S.A.F.E. chapter). It is one of the only DV conferences I'm aware of that specifically focuses on male victims, and I have attended it since these annual conferences began. This year they have a very ambitious program with four separate workshop session tracks - check out the list of speakers at the DAHM web site, and register before Oct. 3 for a discount!

Mike Ditka speaking out about men's health issues

Menstuff.org reports that...

"The Ditka you will see will be older, wiser and a little out of character. He will implore the millions of men 40 and older in the NFL's audience to prevent the things that caused him to have a heart attack at age 48 in his coaching prime with the Chicago Bears.

Ditka is spokesman for the NFL's health education campaign called "Tackling Men's Health," which is being launched today (www.tacklingmenshealth.com)."

Dumb Stereotypes Take Hope Out of Boys Hearts

SMH journalist Andrew Block, who publicly states an interest in men's issues, wrote...

" John Marsden, the best-selling adolescents' fiction writer, and author of the non-fiction books Secret Men's Business and The Boy You Brought Home, said, "Teenage boys are among the most maligned group in our society ...

"The media portrays them as either drug-crazed, illiterate, unemployable, suicidal, failures at school, sex criminals or vandals. So adults tend to treat them more suspiciously, and that causes them [unconsciously] to become angry or frustrated or alienated."

The Advertising Standards Bureau, one of the few organisations that measures complaints about stereotypes in the media, reports a steady increase in the percentage of men (now more than a third) complaining about advertising, and their most frequent complaint is about sexual discrimination."

A judge on Monday granted Clara Harris, serving a 20-year sentence for
running down her husband with her Mercedes Benz, joint custody of her
5-year-old twin sons. The boys' paternal grandparents were given visitation rights.

The agreement approved by state District Judge K.
