A Victory for the Men's Movement

Anonymous User writes... "Bon Macy's has pulled T-shirts which say "Boys are Stupid--Throw Rocks at Them" after a storm of protest led by men's advocates. To learn more, see Wendy McElroy's "Christmas in a War Zone" and MND Newswire's "Bon-Macy's Pulls Anti-Boy Shirts as His Side Listeners Flood Store with Calls, E-Mails" at "Bon-Macy's Pulls Anti-Boy Shirts as His Side Listeners Flood Store with Calls, E-Mails"

Good work and thanks to everyone who was involved in this protest, and a special thanks to Glenn Sacks for letting the public know about it. Great job!

Britain's first safe house for battered men

Raymond Cuttill writes "Britain's first safe house for battered men is to open in secret over the New Year. So far: 1 for men, 426 for women. Women's Aid wants to double the number for women, that's equality for you! "There should be at least 70 refuges for men." Full article at Battered men get their own refuge From the Men's Hour Blog"

Women Pass Men in White Collar Jobs

CJ writes "For the first time since tracking began 20 years ago, U.S. women outnumber men in higher paying, white collar managerial and professional occupations. The gap will continue because of a self-perpetuating cycle of workplace gains for women, according to international outplacment firm Chicago-based Challenger, Gray & Christmas.
Article here."

In the younger groups, women far outnumber men in these positions. It's only because many older women have chosen to be housewives that it's even close.

Men's Issues - Valid Grievances, or Just "Whining?"

Ray writes "Are today's activist men, in today's men's movement, following, lock step in the same "whining," complaining patterns of the "militant feminists of past decades as this author would have us believe, or are they marching to the tune of a different drummer with valid issues completely unique to the real oppressions they are facing? Is their activism just "whining" or do they really have valid grievances?"

Recognizing genuine differences?

Doctor Damage writes "Apparently the answer to the question in the subject is "equality". At least, this is what the president of Australian Women Lawyers, Jennifer Batrouney, SC is quoted as claiming in this article at the Sydney Morning Herald.

The whole quote goes like this:

But the president of Australian Women Lawyers, Jennifer Batrouney, SC, says affirmative action is needed because "equality involves the recognition of genuine difference and, where it exists, different treatment".

I keep seeing this stuff and like the feminists of the 80s used to do, I just shake my head and say: they just don't get it.
When are they going to figure out that equality does not involve the granting of priveliged status for favored groups?"

Anybody else notice how she says equality and different in the same sentance? Oh yeah, no double standards there *rolls eyes skyward*

Mass protest hits London

Fathers 4 Justice, the tireless father's rights crusaders in the UK, staged a repeat of last years Santa protest when 200 members dressed as Santa Clause to present Minister Margaret Hodge with a 6 foot turkey. Details here.

Father's 4 Justice protesters being charged.

It seems that UK police are demonstrating a pattern in dealing with the F4J civil rights crusaders. A recent demonstration in which five campaigners dressed as Santa and held signs on a walkway above a major road resulted in police assuming they were dangerous, closing the road to traffic, and then charging them with being a public nuisance. Article here.

However unlike the case with David Chick, (aka spiderman), there was no crane or any other impediment to the police simply walking up and arresting them. So why was the road closed? Is this the UK police force's way of trying to bias the populace against father's rights protestors, by making them think they "force" roads to be closed? Would the actions of the protestors be legal under UK law had police not decided traffic needed to be diverted thus causing the Santas to become a public nuisance?

McElroy's Latest Fox News Column Exposes Anti-Male

Marc writes "Wendy McElroy's recent FoxNews.com article discusses the use of discretion in holiday charity giving and domestic violence shelters, a major factor being their policies toward males. She mentions NCFM, and in particular mentions Deborah Watkins' (leader of Dallas/Fort Worth NCFM chapter) Homeless Project and Mask Project! McElroy also linked Glenn Sacks’ Daily Breeze article about NCFM's civil rights lawsuit against DV shelters (click on "women only policy"). Thank you Wendy!

Dads vow to storm courts

Girls enforce gender roles by framing boy

I'm guessing they were jealous because he was getting a bigger fan reaction than they were. Whatever the reason, the future NOW members of the Pasco High School cheerleading squad demonstrated their support for diversity by allegedly framing the only boy in order to get him expelled so they can have an all girl squad. One of the girls who attends church with some of the cheerleaders says she heard them plotting...

"I heard (a cheerleader) state to these two other girls that she was going to find a way to get Johnathan kicked off the cheerleading squad because he was a boy," she said. Story here.
