HPV vaccines prevent cancer in men and women, new research suggests — but fewer boys get the shots

Article here. Excerpt:

'New research suggests the HPV vaccine is preventing cancer in men, as well as in women, but fewer boys than girls are getting the shots in the United States.

The HPV vaccine was developed to prevent cervical cancer in women and experts give it credit, along with screening, for lowering cervical cancer rates.

Evidence that the shots are preventing HPV-related cancers in men has been slower to emerge, but the new research suggests vaccinated men have fewer cancers of the mouth and throat compared to those who didn’t get the shots.

These cancers are more than twice as common in men than in women.

For the study, researchers compared 3.4 million people of similar ages — half vaccinated versus half unvaccinated — in a large health care dataset.

From 2011 to 2020, vaccination rates rose from 38% to 49% among females, and among males from 8% to 36%.'

Bucks County woman's false accusation could stop sex assault victims from coming forward: officials

Article here. Excerpt:

'A 20-year-old woman is out on bail after investigators say she admitted to lying about an attempted rape and kidnapping in the parking lot of a grocery store in Middletown last month.

The father of the man accused told FOX 29's Kelly Rule that the whole ordeal has been horrible not only for his son, but for the entire family.

There’s also an impact on the community, and on how current and future victims of sexual assault crimes feel about coming forward.

"It’s a horrible thing to make up, horrible."

According to court documents, Urumova gave police a description of a man's truck and identified him as her attacker back in April.

But when confronted by detectives on Friday, officials say she admitted to lying about the attempted rape and kidnapping.

She said she named him because she had previously seen him and his truck in the shopping center and thought he was "creepy," court documents state.

Global leader in prevention of gendered violence Jackson Katz in Australia to discuss ‘men’s issues’

Article here. Excerpt:

'As Australia confronts horrifying levels of family violence, global leader on the issue Jackson Katz says it is no longer acceptable for domestic or sexual abuse to be seen as a women’s issue that some good men help with because that is part of the problem,

“These are men’s issues,” he said as he kicked off his Australian tour in Perth by speaking at a White Ribbon function.

He said three things needed to change to end gendered violence across the globe, including the use of passive victim blaming language, for men not to be confused between guilt and responsibility about who they are, and for men to take leadership in all corners of society by shutting down inappropriate jokes or conversations.'

Diverting Hate: Really?

Video here.

'A recent publication from a group called Diverting Hate has accused the manosphere of hate and violence. Wait until you see who funded this hit piece on men and masculinity. They developed a scale to measure misogyny and have applied that to a number of youtube creators including Sandman, Just Pearly Things, the Real MTR, The Rational Male and others and make numerous accusations. Tom goes over the scale and the plentiful false accusations. This one is hard to believe.'

'A former high school teacher will spend 13 years in prison after she pleaded guilty to having sex with a student as many as 30 times, including once on a school field trip to Washington DC.

Heather Hare, 33, was a family consumer science teacher at Bryant High School in Little Rock, Arkansas. Her relationship with the student occurred between August 2021 and April 2022.

Is it time to stop men congregating in groups?

Article here. Denying men the right of association is a hallmark of dictatorships. I guess it may also be a hallmark of a gynocracy. Excerpt:

'All of which begs the question: if we have so many examples of the threat posed to women’s safety by allowing large groups of males to congregate together, should we be considering limiting their ability to do so?
...
Perhaps, given the clear and consistent evidence that aggressive and anti-social behaviour is heightened when men congregate in groups, authorities should be looking at ways to curtail this?
...
But if, as a man, the idea of your civil liberties being impinged upon in such a profound way rankles, ask yourself: what civil liberties do you believe women should have when we walk out into the world?

Why was a black congresswoman not criticized for her racist comment about white men?

Article here. Excerpt:

'While commenting about the accusations of sexual misconduct against Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation Chairman Martin Gruenberg, Rep. Ayanna Pressley (D-MA) stated that she was “so tired of white men failing up.” It’s the kind of racism, intolerance, and bigotry that Democrats said they want to purge from society. However, because the target of Pressley’s racist and bigoted wrath was a white man, her comments were absolved from widespread criticism or the kind of outrage had a white Republican made a similar comment about a black Democrat.

Feelings or sentiments regarding the accusations against Gruenberg aside, the criticisms against him should focus on his alleged actions and what he was accused of doing. Whatever Gruenberg allegedly did or did not do, his skin color had nothing to do with it. Pressley should not have even brought it up, and everyone in Congress and the media should have criticized and condemned her for her racial bigotry.

The KC Chiefs should fire Harrison Butker and hire someone who kicks like a girl

Article here. Excerpt:

'For poetic justice after Harrison Butker’s Neanderthal outburst — and because the pipeline of talent is real — the Kansas City Chiefs’ next kicker should be a woman.

This is not a joke. It’s not unrealistic. And it would be good for business. Just ask the University of Manitoba how ticket sales were last year.

Author, Podcaster, & Professor Scott Galloway on How a Lack of Male Mentors Is Hurting Boys

Article here. Excerpt:

'There’s an old proverb that says, “Blessed is he who plants trees under whose shade he will never sit.” For Scott Galloway — Professor of Marketing at NYU Stern School of Business, author, and host of the “Prof G” and “Pivot” podcasts — this proverb perfectly applies to the important work of the men who mentor teenage boys. Unfortunately (and unfairly), mentoring has gotten a bad rap, and Galloway isn’t afraid to put it bluntly: “The Catholic Church and Michael Jackson have f*cked it up for all of us.”

How companies use ‘cognitive diversity’ as an excuse to keep hiring white men

Article here. Excerpt:

'Over the years, tech has found another way to pay lip service to diversity while doing little to increase the number of underrepresented minorities, especially Black women, by broadening the definition of diversity so it’s not just about representational diversity but “cognitive diversity” as well. Cognitive diversity is all about the different ways people think or work or learn—how they approach a problem or solution. Sometimes it even refers to different personality types. On the surface, there is nothing wrong with the notion or even practice of cognitive diversity—but when you elevate it to the same level as racial, ethnic, gender, and socioeconomic diversity, the very concept of diversity is watered down. It also means diversity is reinterpreted to include what Silicon Valley has never had a shortage of: white men with quirky personalities. The problem is there is never enough room for women.'

Petition Demanding the Chiefs Dismiss Harrison Butker Nears 150,000 Signature Goal

Article here. Excerpt:

'A petition calling for the Kansas City Chiefs to kick Harrison Butker off the team has more than 136,000 signatures and counting.

The Change.org petition, started by Willard Harris, is encouraging the NFL franchise to cut the kicker due to the “harmful” and “unacceptable” remarks he made during a May 11 commencement address at Benedictine College.

The petition adds that such discriminatory remarks can lead to hate crimes, and it demands accountability from sports figures “who should be role models.”

Harris, the petition organizer, did not immediately respond to PEOPLE's request for a comment.

By 4 p.m. ET on Thursday, the petition had garnered 136,979 signatures, with an initial goal of 150,000.

Harris and those who signed are the latest to voice their displeasure with the NFL veteran.

On Wednesday, the league itself disavowed Butker's comments, saying in part in a statement to PEOPLE that his "views are not those of the NFL as an organization."'

Thousands Of People Sign Two Petitions To Kick Harrison Butker Off Kansas City Chiefs

Article here. Excerpt:

'Of course, the woke mob is coming for Harrison Butker now. Of course, it's trying to have him canceled by getting him fired.

It's part of the playbook. It's not surprising.

The problem here is the mob is about to run headlong into a meritocracy. The NFL struggles to cancel anybody – at least not on the first try – because NFL teams in business to win usually keep the best people around regardless of their failings.

Or perceived failings, in this case.

Butker is now in the crosshairs of multiple petitions at change.org that -- get this -- call "upon the Kansas City Chiefs management to dismiss Harrison Butker immediately for his inappropriate conduct."

There isn't just one petition but two that are calling for Butker, the Chiefs' kicker, to get the, boot. The more prolific of those two petitions set its initial goal of 35,000 signatures. It has more than 94,538 as of Thursday morning.

The petition has, here we go, moved the goal post to now collecting 50,000 signatures.
