Nothing more to say than that. More on the Lakota can be found here.

It brought tears to my eyes. I mourn the passing of a Warrior, and a Brother.

Thanks, Clancy, for posting this.
You will not see this Warrior's name in the mainstream media.
They have a black out on most things Indian.
Bob Schiefer will not feature him in his "Fallen Heroes" segment. Lindstorm was (is) Indian. They don't cover Indians.
Never the less I am proud to be one of the descendants of a peoples who's humanity and freedoms have been so violated, and yet still fight, and die, for the freedoms of others.
I was moved by this story. Not because the fallen is a fellow "Native-American", but because he is a fellow AMERICAN, and more over a fellow human being.
It will be an honor to meet him in the next world.
God be with those he leaves behind as he walks on.
Thundercloud.

TC,
Why is there such a blackout for Natives? I had not heard that, nor, before this tribute to a fine American, known that Native-Americans have the highest ratio to join the military.
Any thoughts you'd care to share in this area where I am clearly ignorant?

Well, this may make some people angry, but here goes.
You may remember that early in the 90's there was actually quite a few news stories covering Native -Americans. (we prefer "American Indian")
Now here comes the part that may anger anyone here who is a Democrat, but it is the truth.
Regardless of what people may think the mainstream media IS "Liberal". It was assumed that because we (Indians) were "minorities" that we would all, automatically, be Liberal Democrats. Some of us are, but some of us are Republicans and independants as well. But believing that we were solidly "Democrat" like some other minority groups. The Democratic party approached us (on and off reservation) and wanted us all to martyr the Democratic "cause". Most of us (including myself) refused to be the shills of ANY political party, and the Democrats were enraged at us. Immediately they cut off most ties to us and to rub it in, back in the 90's we were INTENTIONALLY left out of Clinton's so-called "Coalition on race".
I'm sorry, I DON'T want to offend anyone, but when the media saw that we wouldn't be puppets for the Democrats they pulled the plug on any reports about us that they might have run, and have since refused to do any others.
They have ignored our pleas to run stories about the problems facing Indians today, such as starvation, homicide, alcohol and drug abuse, poverty, homelessness, diabetes, heart disease and many other problems facing Indians today.
We have begged them for air time to inform the public of these problems so that they can be solved but we are ignored and condescended to, repeatedly by the mainstream media.
They simply seem to want us to die for our "disobedience".
If you'll note; Blacks are a pretty solid Democratic group. As are women and Homosexuals. You will also note; that these three groups are thoroughly (heck OVERLY) represented in the press. Hispanics are about half and half. They vote a bit more Democrat than Republican and the media does give them SOME representation in the news, but not much. I don't know about Asian Americans, they don't get much press either, and I don't know how they vote.
Anyway, That is what happened. They may cover Indian RELATED news, such as an Indian art exhibit at the local museum, but that's about it.
The fact that we are LITERALLY DYING is completely ignored.
Again, sorry if I offended anyone, it was NOT my intention, but that is what happened. That is our experience with the media. That is why there is a "black out". Actually, I have heard it called a "RED-out" by one news organization member who responded to a letter I wrote them to complain.
Any way, that's why we are not covered in the press.
Thundercloud.

The American Indians still have a Warrior ethos. They honor their Warriors, as they were, and still are a fierce and proud People. That would, or might help explain the numbers of American Indians that serve the U.S.

Heaven is brighter with his presence, and our loss.
We've lost some too. Surprisingly it brings a unit closer and more determined to drive on. You won't see that "take" on the MSM screens. That would be "cheerleading" for our warriors and they can't go there ... well, because they are "neutral". Oh, but they CAN report atrocities, rumors of atrocities (Koran & toilet), deaths, and present the "insurgent" (Read: terrorists) side of the view. THAT is their idea of neutral.
Lone Eagle was THERE and did what he thought was right. Brave? He died from small arms. That's close in. I doubt his story will be detailed and presented on the MSM screens. That might make American warriors seem ... I dunno ... HEROIC?
Sleep well bro
