Here's EXACTLY why we need tougher laws against false allegations.
Her first thought of how to get out of trouble is to cry rape. Not, "I was mugged", "I was drugged", or any other explanation ....
Nope.
She made that charge first. And the reason: she knew that even if caught, she'd face a fine and get a slap on the wrist.
And, God forbid, some guy had been arrested on this. Even if she were to reverse her charge due to conscience, the man would have on his record forever that he was arrested for violent sexual assault.
Every time he interacted with the police, even for a traffic stop, the report would come up that he was arrested for that heinous crime.
And long after she had forgotten her "oops" he would be paying for it.

If the false accuser names an individual as the (alleged) perp she should be charged with the crime and registered as a sex offender.
