Oddly Enough More Female Violence Trivialized
posted by Adam on 01:04 PM July 28th, 2004
News Benjamin Adam Studtmann writes "Oddly enough, Yahoo news is continuing to classify horrifying acts of public female violence as a mere current events trivialities. For example, a woman can publicly assault an 11-year-old boy in front of God and everybody at a water park, kicking him in the groin, and attacking bystanders who try to intervene. What will happen? Her water park pass will be revoked and she will receive trivial charges, the STRONGEST of which is third-degree assault. What would a news story look like in which a grown man, say at an ice cream parlor, slapped, punched, and kicked an 11-year-old girl to the ground for cutting in line front of him? What would the man be charged with, and how do you think our hypothetical case would be presented differently from the real one cited above? It is also intriguing to see the glimpses of personality revealed by the woman culprit's own words concerning unrelated subjects."

I second her comments about the game mousetrap. I always does need extra help to get it to go. At all. But it's still fun.

It is said that the woman will not be allowed back at the water park. Good for them! Though this woman obviously disliked bullying directed at family members, her own actions implied that bullying is ...hmm... all right when done by certain individuals? Not a good way to discourage bullying.

P.S. On the Web page under the "More Oddly Enough Stories" heading, the first article was one about a woman who lost control. In Germany, a woman vandalized her husband's car after an argument with him. Only afterwards did she realize that the car belonged to someone else! Though the mistake might seem amusing, the woman would not be laughing if someone damaged her vehicle. Also, it was not a good way to handle the situation by any means.
