The author takes the reader through the story line of Logans Run and analyzes its Freudian/Jungian meanings, especially in relation to the 60's generation that the film was aimed at. The author sees Logans Run as a critque of the feminist dominated post 60's era, which over-protects and controls people, while also imprisoning them in a neurotic pleasure seeking consumerism, where masculinity and the realities of life are kept from them. The author sees the film suggesting that the weakness of the modern paternal role combined with the overpowering strength of the maternal/feminist role is the primary cause of this situation. These findings could never be more relevant than today, with childern of dysfunctional families without a strong paternal presence falling deeper into a false pleasure-seeking neurosis comprised of over-eating, isolationism, TV, computers, drugs and suicide."

I finished high school in the mid-80's but did not attend university until 1998. Wow. Very scary. I could not believe how warped things had become. White males especially were condemned for being repsonsible for everything from split-ends to nuclear holocaust. Females (of any shape or colour) on the other hand were championed, were considered victims of the oppresive patriarchy, and were being "empowered' thru virtually any means. Female chauvinism is alive and well and completely ruining society. Nice to see somebody must have had a glimpse of the future when Logan's Run was made. Women control everything and men are forced to work to pay for it. I'm not condoning violence, but Gentlemen, it is quite possible that we may need to start another revolution to overturn our twisted society. Maybe then, men will actually get the equality that women have been screaming about for fifty thousand years or more....... That's right. Don't kid yourself. I've done my research. Feminism did not start in the mid-19th or 20th century. Women complaining about their lives and blaming it on men has been around for thousands upon thousands of years.....it wasn't until the 1840s that somebody finally gave it a label that caught on. Until then, it was generally referred to as "old wives tales."

In our current gender war culture, any suggestion that there is something like "nature," or inherent human tendencies, or even worse, some notion of a "natural order..." all such thoughts will be condemned immediately by feminists as heresy. Because of course, it's only the Evil Patriarchy that imposes these oppressive and onerous limitations on women... Feminism has been utterly unable to address in any sensible way the obvious and biologically inescapable differences between women and men. Like pigs who can't fly (or fish trying to ride a bicycle)feminists endlessly protest against the limitations of eons of DNA-encoded intelligences that make the human race just a tiny bit more likely to survive. Of course, as you noted in your essay, all of our intellectual masturbation has not yet produced anything as delightfully "natural" as a hummingbird about to experience its first flight... The Fall of the Western World (Score:0) by Anonymous User on 07:09 AM July 5th, 2004 EST (#4) The family is the bedrock of civilisation. No children, no future, despite techonlogical advancements and economic wealth. History is full of similar empires that fell when they lost their core values. The western world is decadent and in rapid decline. Islam is rising in the east and never surrendered its cultural bedrock. Their family unit is strong, and their traditions intact. THe Christian ethic of the west no longer exists. When children have only one parent, and have a perverted value system taught them by a corrupt society and a corrupt family system then what hope is there. There is a rapid population decline in the west, people are no having children, no doubt from fear of divorce. The large number of immigrants coming into western countries, mainly from the third world, is the only thing arresting this rapid decline in population. The people the western governments choose to import are from old cultures, that haven't been poisoned by western values, and still have family values, so they will produce alot of off-spring. Sounds like an admission by these same western governments that their policies have created a mess and they want people unaffected by it! The founding fathers would turn in their graves to see the mess that is the USA, one can start to wonder if we are fighting on the right side? Darren
