How to cash in on your divorce?
posted by Adam on 05:02 PM April 28th, 2004
Divorce Philalethes writes "This guy found his ex-wife's wedding dress in the attic ('she took the $4000 engagement ring but left the dress') and put it up on eBay, hoping to recoup the $1200 it cost him when 'my drunken sot of an ex-father-in-law swore up and down he would pay for but didn’t so I got stuck with the bill. Luckily I only got stuck with his daughter for 5 years. Thank the Lord we didn't have kids. If they would have turned out like her or her family I would have slit my wrists.' Seems he hit a nerve; it's been forwarded around the 'Net (I heard about it from a friend's mailing list), and after six days the auction's had more than 4,800,000 hits (yes, that's four million eight hundred thousand -- 25,000 in the last four minutes), the bidding's over $15,000, and he's had a lot of emails, both negative and supportive. And media invitations. (The auction ends today, but the page should remain accessible for 90 days.) Looks like a possible new career for this guy."

For the past 10 days we have watched my SO's ex "dispose of" his stuff on E-bay -- stuff that his lawyer has sent demand letters for - that there have been 'negotiations' over, etc... He did not 'abandon' the property as did the wife in the article.

Glad this guy is re-couping from stuff she abandoned (hope he told her first though to 'come get it') - he has to sue her for the stuff - the CA here won't deal with it because it comes drom a domestic dispute.

This is off-topic. This is from Glenn's hisside.com

Fathers' Rights activists and the National Organization for Women will be squaring off at the Legislative Office Building (LOB) in Albany, New York on May 4. NOW, having reestablished itself as a legitimate force after its genuinely impressive show of force in Washington, DC last weekend, will be stepping up its legislative attacks on fathers in coming months. When NOW learned that fathers plan to rally they announced that they would be counter-protesting across the street. To fight anti-father feminists and support fathers' right to be a part of their children's lives contact Deborah Fellows dafellows2001@yahoo.com (518)-381-6948, Jim Hayes dadlobby@localnet.com (518) 383-8202, or Randy Dickinson dickins895@aol.com (518) 899-3302.

Guys here who are interested should make themselves there, having seen the pro-abortion rally recently, what's kind of crowd would the pro-fathers groups be up against. Judging this reaction NOW seen to be terribly afraid of men's right advocates, though at the same time trying to appear uninterested.(boy are stupid products)

How strange is this situation we have... in America, American blokes pay women to discrimnated against themselves.

This wedding dress got a solid winning bid of over $3,000.

I wonder why the seller is more interested in using the proceeds to buy ball game tickets and beer instead of using the money to support pro men's rights causes like helping to fund the Domestic Abuse Helpline For Men? at:

http://www.noexcuse4abuse.org/support.html

After 5 wasted years learning what the marriage/divorce racket is all about he should have learned a thing or two about the situation and be committed to changing things for the better rather than being self-absorbed and using the money for self indulgence junk. But it is his money and he can fritter it away as he see fit.

It may only be up for 90 days, but he does have a website coming:

I found a link to this on ebay, but it seems to have disapeared. It is not currently active, but for those of you reading this a year from now...
