Skimpy swimsuit on men indecent exposure?
posted by Hombre on Thursday September 04, @12:57PM

News CJ writes "A man is arrested at a Taco bell because his Speedo swimsuit that he was wearing at a local beach violated an Arkansas law where a person (read - a man) can be charged with indecent exposure if "he knows his conduct is likely to cause affront or alarm." The man faces a $750 fine and possible jail time if convicted of indecent exposure. Not that I agree that this man's decision was in good taste, but would the same happen to a woman if she wore her bikini top and I considered it an "affront?" Or how about women wearing sexy clothing at work while men have to wear suits? It seems that many laws are written specifically for men alone. http://www.boston.com/news/daily/04/odds_speedo.ht m"

Speedos are awful. No one should wear them for any reason.

I agree. I don't want to have to see that much male skin. Men shouldn't be allowed to wear anything that would make me uncomfortable. Its sexual harassment.

Technically, it's legal for a 400-lb. person to wear Spandex. That doesn't mean they should.

So any man dressed somewhat revealingly is comparable to a 400 lb person in spandex?

Men should wear a Utilikilt or SportKilt to work instead of a suit. If fired for it, sue them for all they are worth because of discrimination.

True story.

About 8 years ago, I was working for a company that had a big awards shindig that specified formal wear.. I asked my immediate supervisor what was meant by "formal." He said "Think Senior Prom."

I shrugged and said, "Well, I don't have a tux. But I do have my kilt, and that's supposed to be the equivalent."

He snorted, and muttered something about, "As if you would."

Heh. Now While I ain't a pure bred white boy, the part of me what is is viking and scot. (A seven foot Viking/Scot/Indian. Yeah buddy.) And I do have a Kilt, being a proud Member of the Johnstone Clan.

You guessed it. I dood it. I walked up to Woody, standing there with his eyes bugged out, and said "NEVER tell me I don't have the nerve to do something."

It was a hit. And, just FYI, the amount of women that want to know if you are wearing the kilt in the regimental fashion are legion.

Why didn't they just ask him to leave? I've been asked to cover-up if I've been on the beach in a bikini top, skirt/jeans and go into... anywhere. Usually I have clothes with me, so it's not a big deal. I don't think they'd arrest a woman for wearing a thong bikini, just tell her to go home and put clothes on - thus, the injustice.
wellp, if you live in that town, next time, go and demand that woman be arrested. Or me arrested - though I'd prefer not.

It's almost amusing, in a way, the guy did have shirt and shoes... thus answering the question, what if you don't have pants?

Just another case of men being discriminated against because they are the "unattractive" gender. Just because men dont want to see another man wearing a 'speedo', it should be crime *roll eyes*.

Where does it stop though? What if I walk into some place with an eyepatch around my waist and my dong is all obvious? That ain't right. I don't want to see that much of a woman either, it's trashy.

That's understandable. It's just a matter of the woman and the man having to abide by the same rules, whatever is decided they are.

I didn't mean they should let everyone walk around in their eye-patches, just if they're going to let women, they should let men. I really don't think they would arrest, not just ask to leave, but arrest a woman for the same offense of going into a restuarant with a skimpy swimsuit. So, either toughen up one's policies against women or stop being only offended by men.
