Straus Refutes DV Myths Again - Will the Media Lis

Domestic Violence Code Monkey writes "Murry Straus publishes more research again on dating violence in college aged men and women, as described in this UNH press release. From the release:
Straus says that while most of the assaults on dating partners by students are relatively minor, such as slapping and shoving a partner in anger, the rate of more dangerous assaults, such as punching, choking and attacks with weapons, although much lower, is still alarmingly high at 10 percent. Women assaulted their partners at about the same rate as male students did, Straus also found....The study also looks at the relation of the social context to crime, finding that a large percentage of students approved of slapping a partner's face in some circumstances. An average of 42 percent approved of a husband slapping his partner, while 76 percent said it was all right for a wife to slap her partner.
Please help to promote this study and get the media and public to accept the truth about domestic violence!"

Straus still draws particular attention to the "problem" posed by male sexual beliefs --

> Straus also noted that the study's results for male students in respect to sexual
coercion indicate a worldwide problem. A third of the male students accepted
the legitimacy of forcing sex, and a quarter agreed with the myth that women
who are raped "asked for it."

(In fact fantasies about being raped have always been near the top of the list when female sexual fantasies are surveyed -- don't normal people fantasize about things they want, not things they hate?).

And why is a 40% rate of acceptance of men hitting women more noteworthy than a 70+% rate of acceptance of women hitting men?

>The study also looks at the relation of the social context to crime, finding that a
large percentage of students approved of slapping a partner's face in some
circumstances. An average of 42 percent approved of a husband slapping his
partner, while 76 percent said it was all right for a wife to slap her partner.

> "These rates can be compared with the rates by women in underdeveloped
countries," Straus says. "When asked if it was acceptable for a husband to hit
his wife for any of the following circumstances - burns food, argues with him,
goes out without telling him, neglects children, and refuses to have sex with him
                                          - 40 percent of the women agreed with at least one of them."

cheers,

Feminists have been wagins a "War on Men" for more than a century. The "DV" industry, yes it's an industry now, is one of their front line attacks on men. I say that if they want to wage war on men with "Domestic Violence" it's time that REAL MEN began fighting back. If they want "Domestic Violence" its time that MEN start giviing them some. Like the mythical shepherd boy who cried wolf, let them see what a real wolf (and real DV) is all about. Support EVERY MAN who is accused of DV. Oppose EVERY misandrist DV Program and hate mongering politician who promotes misandry under the guise of "DV." Fight back now. Support MEN and oppose misandry.

If you get the chance, beat the crap out of a DV industry worker and let her find out what it's really about. Her hate has been going out and none coming back for far too long.
