FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

A "Country Barn Dance for Your Father" fund-raising event to benefit the Dean and Betty Gallo Prostate Cancer Center will be held at the Mercer County Ice Skating Rink in West Windsor, NJ on Saturday, June 14, 2003 from 5:00 PM until 10:00 PM. The event will feature country music and dancing with DJ Chuck Bucci. This event is organized by Do This For Your Father, a New Jersey non-profit corporation. All proceeds will be donated to the Dean and Betty Gallo Prostate Cancer Center in New Brunswick, NJ. Tickets will be available starting May 1, 2003 at local businesses and through the organization. Admission will be $13 per person, $25 per couple in advance or $15 per person on the day of the event.

The location is central to the region and is easy to get to, accessible from I-295 and Route 1. It provides a solid floor for dancing and an outdoor feel while offering protection from the weather. No rain date is planned. All are welcome to attend, regardless of their dancing ability. Food will be available for purchase.

The American Cancer Society estimates that there will be 189,000 new cases of prostate cancer diagnosed in 2002 and over 30,000 deaths. Prostate cancer is nearly as prevalent as breast cancer. “We hope we can provide some measure of assistance to the advocacy and research community for the detection, prevention, and treatment of prostate cancer” said organization president Frank Hujber. “June 14 is the day before Father's Day, a day on which most of us try to take some time to honor our fathers. We can think of no better way to do this than by seeing to their health and longevity.”

Do This For Your Father is seeking corporate sponsorships and will be visiting local businesses seeking donations of cash or door prizes.

Do This For Your Father is just now completing its organizing process. This organization was formed to advocate and raise funds for the purposes of advancing the study of men’s health. The organization notes that everyone has a relationship with fatherhood, either by being a father himself or by having a father. The organization seeks subscribers and volunteers for this event and for future events. Contact Frank Hujber (609-584-0592), Martin Dolly (609-890-8330), Benny Recine (609-587-4366), or Glenn Ott (609-771-3785) for further information.

BTW, does anyone know of any prostate cancer awareness activities planned in Georgia on June 14?
