The following quote, I believe, is appropriate to this topic. It is an inherent characteristic of reactionaries to denigrate and vilify a specific group such that the same justifies this sames groups persecution as per the following quote:
"On the other hand, most contemporary feminism, and almost the entirety of academic and political feminism, as Farrel discovered at NOW, is what
Sommers has called "gender feminism," which is essentially based on aform of Marxist theory that substitutes "gender" for Marx's category of
"class," or simply adds the two together, usually with "race" thrown in.This sort of "race, class, and gender" theory is typically a dangerous
form of political moralism, with the same totalitarian characteristics as other verisons of Marxism have proven to display. One consequence of
this is that the substantive content of criticism is rarely addressed but that it is considered sufficient to vilify critics as, in effect,
"class enemies," i.e. directing ad hominem arguments against them that their status, in terms of race, class, or gender, or simply in terms of
their critical attitude, is sufficient to refute their arguments." C.V. Compton Shaw

"Thanks for posting this."
Wow Lori, coming from you that must mean something.
I think Joe hits it well. I really like this piece and I hope this type of understanding goes a long way.

Black Harvard sociologist Orlando Patterson recently proclaimed,
"The sociological truths are that America, while still flawed in its
race relations ... is now the least racist white-majority society in
the world;
I've never lived in a black (African) majority
society, but my experience of asian majority
societies is that racism or at least racial
stereotyping is the norm and little or no effort
is made to hide or change it. Many Asian countries
have laws that are explicitly racist or de-facto
racist (eg Japan's naturalization laws) and these
are generally not subject to comment either
domestically or internationally.
Of course the professor was referring to white
anti-black racism.
cheers,
Tim

I know, I know, Here I go again, but...,
As an American Indian I, and all Indian people DO live in a "black majority society."
To white people Blacks are a minority, But to my people Blacks are a MAJORITY, as are Whites.
I find it interesting that Mr. Patterson, refers
to AMERICA as a "Racist WHITE-majority society".
I notice that alot of Blacks have this particular ONE-SIDED view on racism. That Whites and Blacks are the ONLY people who exist in this world and that ONLY Whites are racist, but Blacks are not, nor can ever be.
In the expirience of MANY Indians, includeing myself, BLACKS can be just as racist as WHITES.
I am very light-skinned and have been taken for "White" by alot of Blacks, This is common for light-skin-Indians as well as light-skin- hispanics, and I have been called "HONKEY" by Blacks. Even those Blacks who do know I am Indian STILL make racial comments or slurs, In fact the slurs and comments are even WORSE then.
Also, many Asians will tell you a similar story. Americans of Korean ancestory in particular have many expirences with Black racism.
I hear alot of Black leaders say that Blacks are in NO position to be racist, because they are not the majority. Again that is a very ONE-sided argument. The fact is, if you hate some one simply because of skin-color, race, ethnicity, Etc, you are a BIGOT no matter what your race, social ecinomics (spelling?) or social numbers. numbers be DAMNED.
Blacks may think I am "picking" on them. I am not.
The fact is, I am illustrateing a truth that alot of people do not want to see in themselves.
This includes both Blacks and Whites. But also Asians, Hispanics, Jewish people, EVERYONE. Includeing my own people. If you are HUMAN then that means you are not immune to being prejiduce.
Prejudice is a HUMAN condition not a "White" or "Black" one.
Feminism employs the EXACT same one-sided view on sexism, That MEN and only MEN can be sexist.
Again if you are Human, you can be prejiduce. and the last time I checked WOMEN are human.
This mentality when it comes to prejiduce wether race-based or gender-based MUST be done away with.
Other wise we will NEVER see an end to this madness.
Prejiduce is a CANCER.
One cannot "cure" a cancer by cutting away only PART of the tumor. It is ALL or NOTHING!

Wow, does this mean I have to stop calling them 'fembots'? lol
I think this is a good article. I can't believe some of the comments I have gotton back on it. Some people actually think its okay to do this type of thing.

((("Wow, does this mean I have to stop calling them 'fembots'? lol")))
Dan.
No way.
If we have to stop calling them "fembots", the next thing you know we'll have to quit calling Nazis; 'Nazis'. After all we do need a 'Point of referance'.
All kidding aside, though. When we say 'fembots' we are simply refering to women with that certain mentality, not ALL women.
Just like when we say 'Nazis' we're not refering to ALL Germans.
I know YOU allready know this, But We BOTH know there is some clown out there, somewhere, who will convieniently "mis-understand" what's being said.
(Maybe that should be Ms.-understand.)

In my opinion, the ultimate irony of Michael Moore's book is that, in it, he reveals so much about himself, who he is and what he thinks, that the only intelligent conclusion an enlightened mind can come to is that he has finally written his autobiography.
At least now we know what Archie Bunker would have looked like if he had been a liberal left winger.
