Dave Brown is on a roll! He really is doing a great job exposing some of the injustices that are going on right here in Ontario. I've just emailed him to say thanks.
Brought to you by the sham mirrors.

I'm in the U.S. but I've avoided becoming a parent, on account of the zeal of femmunist bureaucrats from the family court, who must derive some sick sadistic sexual pleasure from arbitrarily ruining men's lives (that the sadisim is directed against a particular gender is my ample justification for calling it sexual). The thought of the government telling me how much I should earn if I made what they consider "more effort" is chilling.
I've told the story before about a woman I once spoke with who worked with the family court system. I mentioned that I was not getting married or having children until the laws were changed; I didn't want to risk the possibility, no matter how slight, of becoming a deadbeat dad criminal on the whim of the family court if for some reason I became unable to support my family. Fathrhood is virtually uncontitional in the nited States. Her response was, "Why do you think you'll be unable to meet your obligations?" I replied that I wouldn't be bullied into becoming a parent and that there were no obligations to speak of. She was evidently disappointed to learn that I wasn't burdened with crushing financial obligations, or that I wasn't teetering on the edge of deadbeatism. She indignantly denied that she secretly wanted to criminalize fathers--I wasn't polite at this state. The presence of the debtors prisons bureaucrats like her worked hard to create gives lie to that pretence.

Me too. Most of us are. Rather than prison (which severely limits your ability to pay off your debts, IMO) they should offer some sort of credit counseling or job training to help people pay off their debts or train for a higher paying job. Help people help themselves, rather than making things worse for everyone involved.

OR even better make it easier to reduce the support payments. Strange how people are so willing to trample men underfoot in the name of protecting women and children. Tony H
