Tennessee Shared Parenting Bill Under Attack

Inequality On tonight's episode of "Your Legal Rights," which airs on Saturday nights on Nashville's 1510 WLAC-AM, a representative of the Tennessee Women's Political Caucas called in to complain about the state's proposed "Shared Parenting Bill," which would make joint custody the "default" judgement in child custody cases. Although the bill is sponsored by a feminist, the caller disparaged Dads Against Discrimination and father's rights groups in general for bills like this one. She and the hosts disparaged the group for seeking equal rights for men. The TWPC representative is scheduled to be a guest on the show next Saturday night to discuss the bill, which both hosts (Charles Galbreath and Fletcher Long) admitted they knew absolutely nothing about, yet were entirely willing to deride. You can listen to "Your Legal Rights" live on the Internet, Saturday nights at 7 p.m. CST. I encourage anyone interested in supporting this bill to call the show and point out the flaws of this TWPC representative's arguments.

What I find disconcerting about this article is the list of the decadent state legislation the TWPC has had a hand in passing. The list below is from their website.

They had to have had the invaluable aid of tiresome, boorish, self-loathing middle aged males in the state legislature to establish such a success record. Without them this list of misandric oppression would not have been possible.

What is wrong with the majority of the males in Tennessee? Are they all pussy-whipped couch potatoes saying, "How 'bout them Vols?" while burping cheap beer gas? Some men just love to kiss their chains!

Tennessee Legislative Highlights(Lowlights)

Highlights of recent legislation which TWPC has helped bring about in Tennessee are:

1995 -- Domestic Violence Act: Establishes a statewide domestic violence council to develop policies, guidelines and a course curriculum for law enforcement and judicial officials. It requires the adoption of a domestic violence policy and continuing education by all law enforcement agencies and court administrators.

1994 -- Fairness in Appointments Act: Draftted/passed a bill providing for alternating appointments of women to the Tennessee Boards of Education, Regents, Higher Education Commission and UT Board of Trustees until membership on these boards reflects the proportion of men and women in the general population.

1993 -- Sexual Harassment Act: Passed a bill defining sexual harassment and requiring that notice of the law be mailed to all employers in the state. The law also provides that workshops to prevent sexual harassment be made available to all state employees. Further, it creates workplace policies governing employee conduct on the issue.

1992 -- Open Appointments Act: Drafted and passed a bill requiring Secretary of State to publish annually a directory of boards and commissions and to publish monthly a listing of vacancies.

1991 --Homemaker Protection Act: Drafted and passed a bill to insure that during the course of divorce, a homemaker's contribution would be considered equally with contribution of a wage earner in division of marital assets.

Appointments to Boards and Commissions:: Drafted and passed a resolution calling for gender and racial balance in future appointments to state boards and commissions.

Reproductive Freedom: Joined with other organizations to support protection of reproductive rights for all women.

1990 -- Dropout Prevention Act: Drafted and passed bill in cooperation with League of Women Voters and obtained $600,000 in funding to establish school based child care centers for teen parents in the teen counties with the highest teen pregnancy rates.

1989 --Tennessee Child Care Facilities Loan Guarantee Corp.: Drafted and passed bill to establish Tennessee Child Care Facilities Loan Guarantee Corp. Obtained $1,000,000 in funding to guarantee loans for the startup or expansion of child care facilities. 1988 Maternity Leave: Drafted and passed bill to preserve the law by making it apply to pregnancy, childbirth and nursing an infant when applicable.

Homemaker protection Marital Property Act: Drafted and passed bill to reverse a law that was passed on the last day of session last year, by an amendment to a harmless bill which created a presumption against equal division of marital property. Marital Property: Drafted and passed bill to insure that the marital estate includes property acquired up to the divorce hearing date and is not cut off as of the separation or filing date, and to make parties accountable for property dissipated in anticipation of filing or between filing and the hearing date.

Alimony: Drafted a bill which would have made the rehabilitative alimony law apply retroactively to every divorce decree ever rendered.

Child Support: Caused the amendment of a bill which appeared to instruct judges to order mothers and fathers to contribute equally to a child's sport regardless of disparity in earnings.

It's not just Tenn., Luek. If you're in the U.S., you're going to find similar laws in any state where there's a women's political caucus. How do they get passed? First of all, there's zero press about them, so no one knows they're even being considered until they've been enacted. It's worth noting that political reporters have it in their power to examine bills like this (as does any member of the public), but considering journalism is a highly liberal field right now, you're not going to find many of them willing to examine anything sponsored by women's groups.

Well I am feeling better day-by-day.
I gave up a $75,000 job, $250,000 house for my wife had to find herself. We have 2 children also.
So maybe the stress has worked it way through.
Oh it is a long path that stress can take on oneself.
This is the longest round trip I ever took.
As if all parts are unrelated and pieces don't fit together.
Like a crossword puzzle with pieces long gone, but you did not realize until you put its pieces back together.
I was in more places then I ever wanted to be.
It sometimes feels like I have gone on a long backpacking trip only to find I forgot matches.
Well when you find the bottom you know where you are.

Now I just need a Job.

My knowledge of stress caused by divorce.
If you wish to know.

Stress:

Allot of people know stress like I lost my wallet or my car keys or wow was that a hard test.
But real stress is more then most can fathom.
You miss your exits on the way to work.
You live on auto pilot.
You feel like you can not breath or function.
You cannot sleep.
It can tear you up and spill you out like being in a blender.
It can change your heart beat your breathing.
It will change your appetite, your reason, your ability to think.
It makes depression feel like you just went on a vacation.
It makes you feel like you are walking on a cliff next to the abyss.
Sometimes you feel like you have lost your mind.
Sometimes like you can not breath and a 300 ton press is on you.
This is where I have been.

Because I had children.

Much more then any stress I received from working.

I have been under a great deal of stress at times and much of it caused because of my responsibilities to my child; however the fact that it was for my child made the stress a little easier to deal with.

At times, actually, my child was the only thing that kept me going at all.

Not 1 single link or email address works at their site. They must get ALOT of mail they dont like.So typical of the feminazis, they ignore the other views, hide like cowards while pushing their propaganda about "equality".
The web site says:

Purpose of Organization.

Promote full and equal participation of women in government and politics.
Support measures that open up economic and political opportunities for women.
Advocate for equality for women in all areas of life
We are dedicated to the elimination of sexism, racism, and anti-Semitism, ageism, violence, poverty, discrimination of all kind and to ensuring the freedom of choice.

Notice the word "Equality"
what part of the word don't they understand? What possible reason could they give for being against EQUAL time for children and fathers??Probably some more feminazi propaganda about how "dangerous" men are.

Yup! You are right. All of my test e-mails bounced.

They will probably get their legislative sycophantic lackeys in the Tennessee State Legislature to pass a law making any criticism of their misandric agenda a felony crime.

I've long been an advocate of so-called "shared parenting" legislation a.k.a. Rebuttal Presumption of Joint Physical Custody (RJPC for short) in legal circles.

In fact, I support RJPC for all parents whether divorcing or never married as the default legal obligation of both parents to share 50% of the hands on parenting duties. As a default position in any dispute over the care and support of children, the parents can then decide to work out an arrangement on their own which might better suit them and their kids OR the petition the legal system with the default as an in place, known entity. Everybody would know the score going in... when they involve the legal system in their private lives. I see it as a win win.

I agree. While 2 parent families are the ideal, the children still benefit when divorced parents work together rather than behave as adversaries. I have never understood how two people who loved eachother enough to marry and have children can grow to hate eachother so much and forget entirely all the reasons they came together in the first place
