As an aside, I think The_War_Against_Boys is valuable book for those interested in how gender issues have been affecting our schools, and how well (or not so well) boys are faring in the process. I'm not sure I agree with all of her views, but she argues each of her points coherently and uses good supporting evidence throughout the book. I think what is most important is that she is calling attention to these issues, making people take notice of policies and practices of which they may not have even been aware, identifying the people and groups of people who have been the primary influences in this policy-making, and motivating people to really question whether these are the best ways, or even good ways at all, to deal with the issues that boys and young men face. It would be interesting to hear any particular thoughts that others might have about this book.
