Australia: Bill requiring affirmative sexual consent introduced in NSW parliament

Article here. Excerpt:

'A historic overhaul of sexual consent laws in NSW is a step closer to reality after proposed legislation requiring an affirmative model of consent was introduced to NSW parliament.

Under the reform, people will need to take active steps to establish whether another person wants to have sex before engaging in the act.

NSW Attorney-General Mark Speakman, who announced the change in May, and says it is a common-sense reform that will make sexual consent laws easier for everybody.

"If you want to have sex with someone, then you need to do or say something to find out if they want to have sex with you too - under our reforms, it's that simple," Mr Speakman said.'

I really have to wonder at legislators who would consider such nonsense. Clearly, the love and romance in their life is pretty dull if they've never been cuddled up to at night, stroked to readiness and engaged in loving, wanton and wanted sex without a word or other gesture being communicated.

Loving sex often involves a situation where breaking off to get an 'affirmed consent' every couple of minutes, for each individual sex act, is not going to be welcome and will do nothing but kill off the love between man and woman .. oh, but silly me, of course: that is the intent of this idiocy.
