I-VAWA has an innocent-sounding name that belies a radical social agenda and will export the failed polices of VAWA. Under the guise of curbing domestic violence, I-VAWA would also:
For more information go to http://mediaradar.org#ivawa200801 It is much easier to stop new legislation than modify existing legislation. If we can show real grassroots opposition we can defeat this bill. Congressman Howard Berman (D-Ca) Chairman of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs is the sponsor of I-VAWA. A common strategy in passing bills is to have the Chairman of a committee sponsor the bill and then get the ranking member from the other party to co-sponsor the bill. We are asking everybody to contact Congresswoman Ros-Lehtinen's (R -Fla) and ask her to oppose I-VAWA bill # H.R. 5927. Her contact info is: Please phone or fax her and use any or all of the reasons above to make your case. If you are from Florida please mention this in the call. As always be polite and courteous. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Want to improve the chance that they'll pay attention to your letter? Click here.
