Women-only buses in Mexico City

Story here. Excerpt:

'Groping and verbal harassment is an exasperating reality for women using public transportation in this sprawling capital, where 22 million passengers cram onto subways and buses each day. Some men treat women so badly that the subway system has long had ladies-only cars during rush hour, with police segregating the sexes on the platforms.

But that hasn't helped women forced to rely on packed buses, by far the city's most-used form of public transportation — until this week.

Acting on complaints from women's groups, the city rolled out "ladies only" buses, complete with pink signs in the windshields to wave off the men.
...
While only seven female public bus users complained last year, she said the real number of offenses was probably much higher, because women rarely protest openly against sexual harassment.'

Why on Earth would I treat someone who very likely sees me as less than her equal, all while she demands better-than-equal treatment from me, as my equal?

That's not what adults expect from one another. It's what spoiled children demand (and usually receive) from adults.

So every time I hear about one of these stories of yet another female-only privilege based on stereotypes and misandry, and every time I observe the complete lack of opposition to such things from most women, my estimation of ALL women drops, just a little bit.

Simply put, every time women demonstrate with their own actions how un-equal they apparently are (failing to complain about the rampant sexism in this decision, for instance), I treat them all a little less equally.

If women want recognition as "equals" from us, they really ought to try offering it to us for the first time in human history.

I do not invoke this name lightly, but I really have to wonder what Rosa Parks would say about this.

Yes, because if there's one thing everyone knows, it's that women never complain enough about anything.

Sounds stereotypical and sexist, doesn't it? Guess what, it's nowhere near as stereotypical and sexist as the filth that flows freely from the mouths of feminists and "women's groups" onto the pages of every newspaper, every single day.

Like, say, the notion that all men are molesters, rapists and predators, which is being used to justify public expenditures (paid for primarily by men's taxes) on privileged services for women only.

She'd tell you to get off the women's bus.

Remember, she was all about human rights. Since men aren't considered human anymore, we don't count, according to the former members of the civil rights movement and current members of the "women's movement".

Maybe they can call it the Tampon Transit Line.

I lived in Madrid (Spain) for a while and it was a terrible problem using the metro subway trains, because of all the human congestion on the public transport.

I was personally offended by how many lovely female butts I was forced to push up against while being squeezed into a subway car with gorgeous Spanish women.

I'm still in therapy because of these incredibly beautiful women who rubbed up against me, against their will.

Here's a new sig line for you ---

"Waiting for a girl and her knees are much too fat
Waiting for a girl who wears scarves instead of hats
Her zipper's broken down the back
Waiting for a factory girl"

Her "personal" protest was simply another ember on a fire that had already been lit.

In truth, all she really did was refuse to give up her seat. Definitely a historical moment, but the claim that Rosa Parks organized and started the civil rights movement is quite false.

The actual civil rights movement was organized -- and ran -- by others. There is a difference between personally rejecting racism and actually organizing an entire movement.

The latter was done by and large by black men.

Maybe the most underrated of all the Stones albums. Symphony for the Devil is the highlight of that disc.

My next quote might come from "Some Girls".

"Some girls take my money
Some girls take my clothes
Some girls get the shirt off my back
And leave me with a lethal dose"

Man, you're gonna have to switch to Dylan soon if you are going to continue on this misogynist sig path....

"I'm sick of love...
I wish I never met you."

Now, that is poetry!

From the album Desire: "Oh Sister" [very underrated Dylan album]

"Time is an ocean but it ends at the shore"

.......

Now back to the Stones:

"Live With Me"

"Whoa, the servants they're so helpful, dear
The cook she is a whore
Yes, the butler has a place for her
Behind the pantry door
The maid, she's French, she's got no sense
She's wild for Crazy Horse
And when she strips, the chauffeur flips
The footman's eyes get crossed"

It would be fun to ask posters here to nominate what they think are the most misogynist song lyrics they've ever heard.

I think inevitably it would lead from rock 'n roll all the way back to the blues, with lyrics that were not so much anti-women as they were wry commentaries on male-female relations.

Hard to beat Robert Johnson's 1936 "Terraplane Blues," where he compares a woman to an automobile that's hard to start because somebody else has been driving it in his absence:

"And I feel so lonesome, you hear me when I moan
When I feel so lonesome, you hear me when I moan
Who been drivin' my Terraplane for you since I been gone.

I'd said I flash your lights, mama, you horn won't even blow
I even flash my lights, mama, this horn won't even blow
Got a short in this connection, hoo well, babe, it's way down below

I'm gion' heist your hood, mama, I'm bound to check your oil
I'm goin' heist your hood, mama, mmm, I'm bound to check your oil
I got a woman that I'm lovin', way down in Arkansas

Now, you know the coils ain't even buzzin', little generator won't get the spark
Motor's in a bad condition, you gotta have these batteries charged
But I'm cryin', pleease, pleease don't do me wrong.
Who been drivin' my Terraplane now for you since I been gone.

I'm gon' get down in this connection, keep on tanglin' with your wires
I'm gon' get down in this connection, oh well, keep on tanglin' with these wires
And when I mash down on your little starter, then your spark plug will give me fire."

I'm surprised that Kim Gandy at NOW has not tried to have this music banned!

"..with lyrics that were not so much anti-women as they were wry commentaries on male-female relations." [Roy]

A while back I watched an interview with Mick Jagger. He spoke about "Live with me". As a wealthy man he had a cook, maid, butler, etc. His lyrics were simply things he experienced. I assume his cook was a whore and he had a stupid French maid. It isn't misogyny, just Mick's observations.

AA. You may have some substance to that, but feminist revisionist's will show history in their own image, and will highlight women's contributions, while disregarding men's!!
Same thing may happen with the mens movement, If we succeed, it will be written that a few women really spearheaded it!
just like "It's really women who suffer the most in war"

I'm glad to see yet another MRA finally see the job that women have been running on men for I don't know how long.

Look up what actually started the fire that became civil rights; it wasn't Rosa Parks or any black woman for that matter. See how black males -- whom are now dragged through the mud by idiotic women that couldn't put together a Lego set -- actually organized it for the benefit of ALL blacks only for women(Of all races) to hijack it and use it to feed their own greed!

It cracks me up that Sir Mick, having penned all those supposedly misogynist song lyrics, has become in his maturity a one-man industry for alimony and child support.

His ex-girlfriends in Rio alone are keeping half the Brazilian economy afloat!

He may have them "under his thumb" but the price of that privilege is dear....
