American Airlines Not RelentingI received a snail mail reply from AA re their women-only subsite at http://www.aa.com/women/. Among other things the letter reads: "We have the responsibility to our stockholders to maximize their investment, and that means aggressively pursuing the business of those who travel frequently...[Women constitute a large portion of our market]...Good business dictates we pursue these travelers." Basically, the same argument people who had "whites-only" sections in restaurants, etc., used to make. AA's customer relations web address is http://www.aa.com/customerrelations/. Get cranking! |

I have done the same
Earlier today I emailed AA using the link Matt provided, pointing out this gender discrimination, and asking them to either provide a /men subsite (unlikely) or do away with the /women one altogether. I haven't received a reply yet, but I will keep you all updated.
Simple solution - vote with your dollars
At one point I had a staff of 20 people working for me who traveled by air at least twice a month. We spent a great deal of money on air travel every year (it approached a million dollars some years), and I would always deal with one specific carrier in each country/region to consolidate costs and kickbacks/rewards. I used to prefer to fly American Airlines (or their partners), and their people spent a fair amount of time blowing smoke up my ass to keep that business.
I just cut my AA frequent-flyer card into little pieces. It will accompany the letter explaining the error of their ways and the millions of dollars in lost business which just "took to the skies" thanks to their misandric business practices. I'm not traveling as much these days, but let me explain...
I still have influence in several boardrooms and many colleagues who (along with their staff) continue to travel heavily. I'd estimate conservatively that the people I do most of my business with spend $500K a year on travel for themselves and their families, not to mention the many millions they spend for their employees and contractors to travel. This bit of pandering is about to cost American Airlines a very large amount of money.
It really is a simple solution - raise hell about this in the MSM wherever possible and boycott AA and any company associated with them at all times. Be sure to explain to AA and every travel agent you speak to why you refuse to travel on their airline. Tell your friends, tell your family. Ditto for airlines that treat paying male customers as potential child molesters by making them move when seated next to a child. I'm willing to bet real money that this is an AA policy, too.
Men still do most of the business travel and make most decisions about who will receive their business. If AA wants to go bankrupt due to political correctness and pandering to women, let them - I'm pleased to help. I'd rather walk.
They and their partners have seen the last cent out of me and my colleagues. Starting this week the people I advise will be pressured to withdraw their business as well. I'm an unhappy customer with many friends and associates who are about to become unhappy as well. Bad move, AA.
Spread the word.
Will do, RM
Let's make an example out of AA, for anyone who wants to consider pulling this crap in the future.
