Men march in high heels to end violence

Story here. Excerpt:

'It's not a sight you see every day.

Courageous men took off their comfortable shoes and sported red high heels Saturday morning for the "Walk a Mile in Her Shoes" international men's march in Central Falls.

The march kicked off at the high school on Summer Street in an effort to show solidarity and support to end violence against women and bring an end to sexual assault, rape and gender violence.
...
One in four women will experience gender violence in her lifetime.

"This violence does not just affect women. Men are hurt and angered when women they care about are raped or abused. And the same violence that targets women also targets men because rape isn't about sex, it's about power, control and violence," said Nancy Rafi, Executive Director of the Rhode Island Crisis Assistance Center.'

But is it any surprise, really?

Protecting women has long been an instinct of men. An instinct manifesting itself here.

Question: if feminism is all about women no longer needing men to protect them why do so many feminists insist on men "acting to end violence against women"? If today's woman is so independent why do some insist on men taking action - directly or indirectly - to protect them.

Isn't this protest, despite what the media and others say, decidedly ANTI-feminist?

Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way when you criticize them, you're a mile away from them and you have their shoes.

i believe it was the falcon's game? everybody wearing pink for women's breast cancer.
didn't i read about several times more gov. funding going to breast cancer,
as opposed to prostrate cancer, which kills men in almost exact numbers as breast cancer
kills women?

when they going to wear blue for prostate cancer? yeah, sure.

in the days of actual chivalry, knights and such, chivalry was about a lot more than just
taking care of women, children and the weak. it was about a knight becomming a total well rounded man. he was also to learn about the Arts, and manners, and be well read, sometimes in multiple languages. well educated for the day. that's why old royalty in European films spoke multiple languages, like in that recent excellent Henry VIII cable series.

women today are pushing the part of chivalry where they get special treatment, while in reality
taking full advantage (in the law and elsewhere) of men's natural instincts to put them first. they tell these men that this what they are supposed to do; and, if you don't think this way they will not love you.

it really is ironic. if young men actually sought the real chivalry of old, they would be smart enough and wise enough and well rounded enough in the ways of a gentleman, to understand that.

No offense daveinga but I personally have never had a natural instinct to protect women. I think even the concept is gross misandry.

The noble breed called German shepherds may have a natural instinct to protect it mistress but they are not human.

btw - i'm told german shepherds were originally hunting dogs,
and i believe it.

i have seen very large wild shepherds hunting deer, twice.
the first time there were two matched beautiful almost white ones.
they hunted quietly, and fast.

wouldn't want them after me.

these days some are born guard/watch dogs. odd that.
maybe this is what happened to men in our society.
the hunter is being bred out, and replaced by manginas. ha!

What I don't understand is why this isn't an activity by both genders to end domestic violence period. What people ought to start doing is holding "Walk a mile in HIS or HER shoes" days, where the men wear high heels, and the women wear steel toe work boots, to acknowledge that not only can either gender be a victim of domestic violence, either gender also has double standards against them. Jesus said "A kingdom cannot stand divided against itself". By ignoring half the kingdom, how can it stand?
