RADAR Alert: This Week, We FLOOD Capitol Hill with Calls and Faxes
posted by Matt on 01:08 PM April 17th, 2006
RADAR Project

The past four weeks RADAR has released a series of Special Reports that document how the Violence Against Women Act violates persons’ civil rights on a massive scale:

Restraining orders: According to the FBI, over one million restraining orders are issued each year. Half of these restraining orders do not include even an allegation of violence. These orders are widely used as a legal ploy during a divorce proceeding.

Click "Read more..." for more.

This Week, We FLOOD Capitol Hill with Calls and Faxes

Must- and pro-arrest policies: Twenty-two jurisdictions have mandatory arrest laws for DV cases, and 8 others strongly encourage arrest. And 33 states mandate arrest if a restraining order has been violated, even for the smallest technicality.

Primary aggressor laws: Worse, 24 states have laws on the books that discourage dual arrests, and instead rely on a “primary aggressor” assessment which amounts to blatant gender profiling and the inevitable arrest of the man.

No-drop prosecution: any jurisdictions require prosecution of the case, even if the woman withdraws her complaint. In some cases, prosecutors have coerced a woman into testifying against her will by threatening to have the state take custody of her children if she refuses to testify.

Discrimination against male victims: It is estimated that only 1-5% of victims served by VAWA programs are males. Worse, in many cases when a man does reach out for help, he finds himself accused of the very crime to which he has become the unwitting victim.

This week, RADAR releases its fifth Special Report, “Bias in the Judiciary: The Case of Domestic Violence.” The report reveals how judicial education programs openly tell judges to disregard men’s civil rights, and shows how fast-track prosecution programs operate on the principle, "guilty with no opportunity to prove otherwise."

The report can be viewed at: http://www.mediaradar.org/docs/Bias-In-The-Judiciary.pdf

VAWA, and the 600-odd state laws it has engendered, is the product of a poisonous gender ideology that claims domestic violence is a tool of patriarchal dominance. But its real target is not just men, because many women also have become caught up in VAWA’s law enforcement abuses.

The real target of VAWA is the family. Why? Because every instance of marital discord – a shove, a thrown object, even a sharp word – is now subject to state intervention and criminalization of the alleged perpetrator. The family unit cannot withstand this assault for much longer.

It is time to cast political correctness and complacency aside.

WE WANT CONGRESS TO CONDUCT HEARINGS ON THE MASSIVE CIVIL RIGHTS ABUSES OF VAWA. AND WE WANT THE HEARINGS NOW.

Telephone or fax these Chairmen:

  Voice phone: Fax:
Congressman Steve Chabot, Chairman
House Constitutional Subcommittee
202-225-2216 202-225-3012
Sen Sam Brownback, Kansas, Chairman
Senate Constitutional Subcommittee
202-224-6521 202-228-1265

Be polite, yet firm in your request.

Your telephone call or fax will help stop the VAWA assault on families.

I got through to Chabot early this morning, but I have been trying the rest of the day to FAX Brownback. When the line is not busy the number rings and rings but never picks up. I'll keep trying, but I have no desire to talk directly to any of these elected hypocrites so forget me ever calling and talking to them.

I got through with my FAX to Rep. Chabot's office early this morning on the first try.

I tried all day to get through to Sen. Brownback's office in D.C., 1-202-228-1265. That number was busy a lot, but a third of the time it just rang and rang, but never picked up. Finally near the end of the day, I went on line and found the following FAX numbers for Sen. Brownback's Kansas offices. I got through and sent my FAX to 4 out of the 5 offices.

Isn't it ironic that during the 1950's at the height of the Cold War Americans were fearful of the remote possibility of being militarily occupied by the Red Soviets and/or the Chinese Communists and having imposed upon them the same Social-Marxist draconian dictates that VAWA imposes?

Yes, I think many Americans are unaware of how egregious an abomination VAWA truly is to our American way of life.

I was finally able to get through to Sen. Brownback's office in Washington this morning with my FAX. I certainly hope he and Rep. Chabot are starting to catch on.

Honorable Sam Brownback:

I am requesting that congress conduct hearings on the massive civil rights abuses of the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA), and I request the hearings be conducted NOW.

It's time to put all this "letter writing" irony in perspective.

Senators and Congresspersons do not read their e-mail, their snail mail, their text messages, their weblog postings.

They HIRE college-educated SERVANTS to do this lowly garbage removal and sort out the complimentary incoming messages of adoration and positivity.

Any underling so inclined to deliver "bad" news such as MRA's misgivings about VAWA would be summarily dismissed and replaced with a womenz' studies major with big boobs and rich parents.

Get a clue card, alright?

The elected "servants of the sheeple" in D.C. are too busy bowing before the 2% elite kleptocrats who own 96% of America, trust fund boomers, feminist lobbies like Emily's List, and endless corporate mafia ....

they have no time for idealistic PEONS who are merely petitioning for a consideration of Constitutional Rights.

Get this idea firmly implanted in your mind ---

We no longer live in a democracy.

Worse and shocking realization ....

We never actually had one.

It's all been a "bait and switch" gambit.

Feminism is a useful sideshow to distract us all from why the Iraq war "victory" has created fantastic (370% up in four years) profits for the Big Oil companies.

Going into Iraq was designed to PREVENT more cheap oil! (Iraqui oil output has been destroyed by the war of liberation...) Have you checked out where the Bush family and all its "elected" sycophants get their money?

No politician worth having lunch date with would even pass a fart over MRA's concerns....

Sad, but arguably true?

I think it's a matter of having the numbers and as I said years and years ago, "Gender feminism will continue to MANufacture more and more male victims and eventually they, and their families will care enough to work for change."

I see much more activism now than when I first said that so I'm quite content to continue working for change in abominable gender feminist laws and policies like VAWA. I see that glass of male victims as half full and it can only get fuller, given the way things continue to go.

Don't get discouraged bro, continue working for equal justice and equal rights for males.

At worst the servants keep count of positive versus negative responses. I don’t believe that most members of Congress knowingly hire sycophants and boot lickers to insulate them from voters’ actual opinions – these guys want to keep their jobs. If the numbers are there it’ll get their attention.

"At worst the servants keep count of positive versus negative responses."

I phoned one of our strongest opponents the other day regarding some anti-male legislation and the State Senator's aid who took the call said, "That's her bill she's not going to oppose her own bill." I responded, please note this call so that I am on the record opposing this legislation. At that point her response was that she would put my call on the opposition's pile.

Absolutely, continue voicing your position to legislation that negatively affects men's issues.

We have actually seen this misandrist Senator pull previous bills she’s presented in the face of large scale opposition.
