Men twice as likely as women to get fired in Australia

Inequality Tirryb writes "According to News.com.au in a story here, men are twice as likely as women to get the sack in the workplace. They are also less likely than women to 'see the end of their marriage coming'.

Of course the excuses are instantly made. Quote: "It is possible that, at any given job level, women are somewhat more competent, or perhaps less likely to cause trouble at work than men," the Household, Income and Labour Dynamics in Australia report says.

No consideration for the fact that most employers are terrified of sacking women because they get dragged into unfair dismissal claims based on gender almost immediately. Or that women call it quits in marriage far more often than men, which is why men 'don't see it coming'. Nope, it's all the fault of us dumb, useless, incompetent males...."

If at any given job level, employers are more likely to sack men because "women are somewhat more competent, or perhaps less likely to cause trouble at work than men," than the same employers would be more likely to promote women and/or give them higher salary... yet we're told that employers discriminate against women in promotions and salary. How schizophrenic on the employers' part to treat women equally in sacking but discriminate against them in all other areas.

I take it for granted that the report does not contain an explanation for why "single mothers are the most likely households to be caught in poverty" along the lines of "It is possible that, at any given household, single-fathers are somewhat more competent breadwinners, or perhaps less likely to cause trouble in the neighbourhood than single-mothers."

At any rate, so much for the feminist "women are the first to be fired" canard.

Never mind being fired, will men be able to get a job in a few years?
